I've seen a few and can get a good deal on a hd bumper but how much fab work is involved? Just looking to find out before I order my new grill

I was just coming on to search for this exact topic. I've heard you have to cut off the stock brackets and reweld them in a slightly different position to account for the frame horns not being quite as wide and to lift the bumper a little higher. I know we would need the trim piece below the headlight and I'm wondering if we could pick up a grill from the 2009-2012 that is shaped more like the 2500 at the bottom. I also don't know if the opening will allow you to retain the factory tow hooks. I really don't want to do the entire grill, hood, bumper front end conversion.

Yeah I can't find much info on them but I love the looks. Was wondering if we could bolt a plate on the frame horns that would match up with the hd bumper mounting location?

Someone on the forum has actually done it. You may find it in the DIY section, or by going page to page in this section iirc.

That would be alot of weight for the front end of a 1/2 ton. I bought the iron cross bumper made for 1/2 tons. I think its a little thinner metal and lighter and the truck still rides a little ruff even with the bilsteen installed. But I hit a deer with it and you couldnt even tell

Sounds like a silver lining to me! except for the deer...
I think the stock 2500 bumpers are only around 80 lbs and most of the offroad bumpers (except prerunner style) are around 125-180 lbs. And our little bumper has to weigh something. I would bet you add less than 50 lbs.

Im pretty sure my bumper weighed 180lbs and it is just the bumper and not the the cattle guard looking ones that cover the head lights. I figure I added 100lbs
