Remote started the truck this morning and noticed the heated seats/steering wheel didn't turn on. When I hit the key, the evic popped up with battery saver mode (not uncommon to see in 20 degree cold). My wife and I both manually turned on the seats but within about 5 seconds both shut back off. This continued all the way to work. Same for the steering wheel heater.

Any ideas as to what might be the culprit? They worked flawlessly on the way home last night.

I kind of figured that. I don't think I've ever noticed it do that before and all of my Rams have done this periodically but not 100% sure that I've ever paid attention either. Not real sure why it goes into battery saver mode overnight unless it was just the cold temps, but my 2012 2500 and 2016 3500 did it. Seems to just be the diesels. My 1500 never did that.

Maybe a combination of cold temps and short trips prior to shutting off???
I'm not familiar with diesels but I have had it occur on my 2500 after I ran the stereo for an extended period of time - You know, I'm out cutting wood and have truck off on acc power - truck shuts off automatically after a bit - I place it back in acc power - truck shuts off automatically after a bit - I put it back in acc power . . . Yes, I'm stupid :p
I eventually invested in a Bluetooth speaker for my wood cutting adventures ;)

How old are the batteries? Sounds like they both are nearing end of life, need to be replaced. Get Both batteries load tested. And yes, diesels pull a lot more power starting, and the heater grid warming up, and it "seems" this issue occurs more on diesel due to monster current draws than on a gas vehicle. If batteries good, than charging system issue? Or a parasitic draw.

Never had a problem with my ED. BUT that is totally different than a 6.7, and of course I did not get the temps you have.

Just throwing some ideas out there. U may want to put the vehicle on a battery maintainer.

The batteries are both about 5 months old. I just load tested them about a month ago when I was dealing with the charging issue (which has been resolved). I've seen this battery saver mode on all of my diesels on super cold mornings, so it's likely because of the grid heater. It pulls my battery voltage down to about 11V while it's cycling. I don't manually turn on my seat heater, so it's just as likely that I've never noticed them not working on those mornings. The wife is riding with me this week, so she has to manually turn on her seat. That's why I noticed it wasn't working. :)
