my sons truck dash is all cracked up , wondering if I can changr heater core through the top of dash ,without removing dash?

he wants to take it up north ,would suck without heat . dont want to start if cant finish it, dont want to pull out the dash looks like big job

hey man. i just had my dash completely out to replace the heater box, yes, it is a big time consuming job. i havnt done a heater core on these, but the way the dash tips forward, i cant see why you couldnt do it without pulling the whole dash. theres the 5 screws at the windshield, few on the bottom and the whole dash tips forward. removing the steering column alows its to tilt more, but should be ok with it in.

i think i seen a bunch of vid's on youtube for this, check there to see what your getting yourself into.

What year is the son's truck. A Gen II, No.

You have to pull the heater box back from the firewall to access it.
I don't realistically think you could get to the bolts without pulling the dash back.

(I just did this job on my Dad's '98 a few months ago)
