I'm looking at mounting a heavy duty winch on my 2020 2500 and am in process of researching factory and aftermarket mounting plates for winches.
MOST winches have a 10" x 4.5" mounting bolt pattern which seems fine for most winches rated at 12,000 pounds or less. Nearly every aftermarket and MOPAR mounting plate comes with 10" x 4.5" pre-drilled holes as this is the most popular pattern.
I am looking at several 18,000 pound winches which have a 12" x 4.5" and/or 12" x 6" mounting bolt patterns which do not mount up to most ready built mounting plates. I've considered drilling two four additional holes to achieve the mounting bolt pattern but am not interested in weakening the mounting plate.
I am not above making my own plate, but am interested to know if anyone has experience with or information on non-standard mounting bolt pattern winch plates for our trucks?
The option exists to purchase a Ranchhand winch mount bumper or similar product, but I'd like to mount it recessed like the Power Wagon if possible to preserve the factory lines.
Thanks in advance!
