So I have a 2007 Dodge Ram had it for 8 years.. thought it was time to change the driveshaft u-joints did both of them put it back together now I have a vibration @66 mph pretty bad.. is it possible that I drive shaft has to be balanced or did I lose a balancing pad that is on the driveshaft possibly??..

If you didn't have a problem before you did the work and the U-joints all feel snug with no play and both ends of shafts plus hanger bearing aren't showing any looseness, my guess is you knocked off a balance weight. There are companies that specialize in drive lines, I would check with one about getting it balanced.
On a side note, you didn't knock a wheel weight off swinging that drive shaft around? Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a rear wheel out of balance and a drive shaft out of balance.
Good luck
There is one other thing to visually check before you do anything else and that is to make certain that you got the U-joints seated properly.

Try re-clocking it first (unbolt it, turn it 180°, bolt it back up) and see if that does the trick. Sometimes drivelines are funny that way. If not then you'll need a balance check.

Modern day drive shafts should be balanced if you change u joints. The place that I bring mine to will warn you about using aftermarket u joints. It is hit or miss on whether they can balance it or not. They recommend using oem

Are the U-joints phased correctly?

Hey yall,

I know this thread is a wee bit old, but I just had to replace my front driveshaft U-joints and cardon joint, so I would imagine after 171k the rear drive line probably needs ujoints and a carrier bearing too.

What joints do yall recommend? And beyond that what part number are they? Are all three the same joint? Trans, mid, and diff? I was thinking about going with Spicer solid( non greaseable) joints... but... what works best?

I'm also debating on a solid rear driveshaft... but the shop that rebuilt my front DS said I'm better off with the 2 members...

Thoughts... comments... welcome and valued...

Thanks,

Matt
