Help. want to add a few inches.

I have a 2001 2wd and want add 2-4 inches. what parts do i need so i dont break something by straining the truck. do lift kits have everything needed?
Any recomendations on what to do? i need new ball joints, pitman arm, and idler arm. I have heard that some lifts might come with a new pitman/idler arm and others might have upper ball joints,,, would love help from more expierenced people. THANKS.
