I am the proud owner of a '11 Ram SLT with the 5.7 Hemi. However, it has the single exhaust  . But that didn't bother me because I got a great deal on the truch and I intend to run an aftermarket dual set up anyway. I have heard of the Mufflex exhaust. I see it on Ebay and how they offer aggressive, moderate, and mellow options. How many of you have this exhaust, and which option you chose? I would like a mean muscle sound, but not too razzy when I get into it.

If you're planning on getting dual pipes I would buy a muffler of your choice and take it to an exhaust shop to have them bend some pipe and weld it up for you. The Mufflex kits are designed to bolt up to your factory exhaust. Go check out the exhaust clip thread at the top of the 4th gen engine and performance section to find a muffler you like. I suggest getting a Magnaflow #12288 5x8x18, same muffler used for the Mufflex "moderate" dual exhaust kit.

I agree with Tylerb. especially if your truck does not have the cut outs on the bumper for the exhaust.

Oh, I plan on buying the bumper with the exhaust clearance and selling the one I already have so I can run the exhaust out the back. Thanks for the info! I will check out the clips.

Ok guys, question. Keep in mind that I currently have the single exhaust on my 5.7. Since I plan to have duals running out the back, do I need the muffler with the single inlet and dual outlet, or a single inlet and single outlet and have the shop install a Y to exit the duals? Or does it even matter?? I am asking these questions because I have not dealt with after market exhaust installations.

IMO you' be better off with the SI/DO muffler than a SI/SO and 'Y'.
Keep it simple.
As the others said (and they know their $hit) the Mufflex is designed as a bolt-on, using Magnaflow mufflers as a base. The 18" Mag is the same muffler as the moderate Mufflex setup, so just grab that and put the money you save towards the extra pipe you'll need.
But won't you need the bumper w/dual rear cutouts in order to get everything bent correctly? Or were you looking for a Magnaflow cat-back kit w/duals?

The Magnaflow cat back duals bolt on and clear your stock un-cut bumper.
The factory dual exhaust hangers should be on your truck, and the Magnaflow kit clips onto the hangers.
The benefit of the Magnaflow kit,is it comes with a set of mandrel bent 2.5" pipes, compared to the stock factory dauls which are 2.25" pipes.
Very few muffler shops can do mandrel bends,so keep that in mind

I intend to replace my bumper with the one with the exhaust tip clearnaces. What is "mandrel" bends? Also, what is "SI/DO" and "SI/SO"?

Single In / Single Out (what you currently have)

Single In / Dual Out (what you probably want)

Mandrel bent means the pipe is curved but doesn't have the 'crimping' where the pipe bends, therefore making it a little smaller and more restrictive. You probably would not notice the performance difference really, but still........

Example of mandrel bends.... notice the pipe stays the same diameter throughout the curve....

Ooooh. Ok. What is the size of the piping on our trucks? 3" or 2.5"? If 3", Does the muffler need to have 3" inlet and outlet, or 3" inlet and 2.5" outlet, or does it even matter?

The think with the complete Mag kits is that they are out of my budget range. I am just hoping one of my local shops can get the piping done. I will check on that hopfully this weekend, but I won't get the setup done until I order a new bumper.

Yep, Mufflex is a waste here. Don't even bother. SI/DO Magnaflow 18" or up will give you the muscle sound without being annoying. The 14" isn't annoying, but it's leaning towards it IMO.

I like quite when idling, yet a decent bellow when on it. I have the 24" and wouldn't trade it for anything right now. It's perfect. FOR ME!

Factory dual mufflers are 3" inlet and 2.25" outlets.
Magnaflows muffler kits are 3" inlet and 2.5" outlet.
Have you priced out a set of duals, when i was looking around, there wasn't much price differance between a muffler shops price and the Magnaflow kits prices.
If you want to go cheap for now,you could just upgrade your stock muffler as a interm measure.
The stock 3" single pipe is plenty big enough for a basically stock truck, just needs a decent muffler .
You'd save yourself a bunch of money, and still have the good factory pipe.

Well, I definitely want the duals. The single exhaust I currently have on my truck is an eye sore! I bought a 2006 Ford Fusion S when it first came out. The single exhaust tip on it irritated the #@%* out of me. So, I ended up getting a factory dual exhaust from another Fusion owner who had the 6 cyl. (He upgraded to a Magnaflow exhaust system). Took it to the muffler shop and had it welded up, and couldn't be more happier. I see mufflers on Ebay for decent prices. I guess it all depends on how much the shop will charge to install and run the duals.

Someone is trying to sell their factory duals right now in the classifieds. If you got them you'd be all set to get one the Mufflex kits.

On mine, I left it single, but I dumped it just past the rear axle, so you can't see it.
Very clean..........
