Hid installation question; inside headlight?

Hello, I have hid on my truck since I have it.

I drilled a hole and put the ballast outside the headlight.

My ballast just broke. But I don't want to mess again with that.

I tried to put everything Inside the lamp and it fit well. But my question is, since the ballast is inside it may not be cool enough for it ? Does it need to be cooled?

If someone did that here I would like to get some feedback about install the complete hid system inside the headlight.

Check with JJ at Retroshop; I believe that's how he used to do it.

Mine are ziptied (thick) to the brace behind the headlights. No issues.
