Hey Everybody!

I just picked up my 2020 RAM 2500 Diesel and have a few questions.
Now that I have the truck, the stock rims / tires (pizza cutters) have to go and want to upgrade with a 2.5" leveling kit new front and rear adjustable track bar and 35" tires.

My question is, I can not seem to find a 33-35" tire that has a higher speed rating than 99 mph. So that go me thinking, how is it these rally trucks that have 35"+ tire are able to achieve speeds of 130+ mph with out a problem?
I don't expect to do 100+ miles an hour, but from my experience a higher speed rated tire is *usually* built better and has an easier time of balancing etc.

Being down here in FL, if you are not doing 80+ mph you will be run off the road as you are not keeping up with traffic!

Not sure if I am the only one wondering about this?

rally trucks are not worried about DOT so having a blow out on an interstate going 130mph is not of concern. Plus they probably change tires very early and they very well may have special race tires that are not DOT compliant. I live in Montana and run Toyo RT 35's and we have 80mph speed limits and it is very easy to run 90ish with no issues. Not like once you touch the ton mark your tire will immediately blow....

This is true, tires wont blow once you hit the design limits of a product, and are typically designed to exceed the maximum posted design specifications when a load is involved (elevators, cables, tires etc). I was wondering if there was a larger tire that had a higher speed rating of (Q) 99mph that might be an option.

If you look at the 35x12.5xR18 there isnt much, should I be looking at different rim or rim and tire combos?

Thanks!

The set I’m looking at are 285/75r18 cooper discoverer at3 xlt with a speed rating of 112. Only downfall is it’s a 35/11.5 if you wanted 12.5 wide. I’m looking at going narrow to save the weight and drag. Have 305/70r18 currently. Speed rated to 99 as well.
