Ram 1500 did very poor in certain crash tests. Apparently there is a lot of lower cab intrusion and often a driver legs could be either pinned, cut, broken, crushed, etc.

My buddy sent me an article showing all the 1500 class trucks and was **** talking about the ram (he is a Toyota fan boy).

I understand that they have a poor test rating, I'm going of what I have seen personally with auto wrecks. I have seen people die in wrecks even with the highest rated cars while the lowest rated car in a very similar wreck at the same speeds they walk away with barely a scratch....

My point is there is these test ratings and such done then there is the real world and what actually happens

I'll use this as an example
Once I get my phone to cooperate I can post pics but had a accident on thanksgiving that a poor side impact rated JK wrangler was tboned by a ranger rover at about 75-80 mph. the minimal amount of damage for a wreck that bad was amazing. I have seen other vehicles like VW jetta's with a 5 start side impact rating at the same speeds same angle completely collapse the passenger compartment to nothing.... the passenger door was touching the steering wheel.... both of these wrecks were hit in the exact same position at relatively same speeds by equally sized vehicles...
I understand how they produce these tests and what their intent is but they are tests in a controlled environment where my own personal experience of real world shares a different light on them....

Frankly it doesn't matter what your in or how good the rating is, any accident can end up deadly. The 2 passengers walked away with bumps and bruises, actually the driver was arrested for DUI, the occupants of the ranger rover were transported with minor injuries. The occupant of the Jetta dies on the way to the hospital from major trauma in the accident.

This ram did its job poor rating or not from what I can see from the pictures.

They are selling it for parts? The only thing that looks like it might work is the driver's side taillight. Everything else is busted.

Rams really have poor ratings?
Just like RT said those test are so controlled that a lot of real world is left out... To an extent I feel the ratings are a sales ploy

My brother must have seen the same article last month. He is in the market for a new truck and I have been pushing the 1500 Laramie or limited 4x4 with all the bells and whistles or the similar 2500 MegaCab, like mine. He is pretty set on the F150 Ecoboost Platinum 4x4. He sent me an email that said "you may want to get some leg braces". THe 1500 were rated low while the F150 was best in class, apparently. Hopefully the 2500 with SFA will fare better.
