I have wrestled with the dilema of choosing between a tonneau cover and utility rack. The tonneau is much more desireable as a full-time accessory for me. I don't want a rack on my truck full time; only occassionally when I need it to haul lumber or ladders or canoe and don't want/need to use my trailer. My search did not reveal an easy-on-easy-off rack without drilling, that would fit with the tonneau cover, and was inexpensive. This 2x4 rack slides in, fits perfectly, is strapped in with ratchet straps - one front and one back - and won't move front-to-back or side-to-side when in use. It will carry a serious load (though it would not be wise to carry really heavy loads so high up for obvious reasons). When I don't need it any more I undo the straps, slide it out, and set it on a couple of boards next to the trailer. Takes less than 5 minutes to install and remove. I did not put the lower diagonal braces on the rear portion to allow full-width access to the bed from the tailgate. Works great and doesn't look too bad either. I like it alot. Maybe some of you will too.
