I have installed DIN sized radios many many times in cars and it is a piece of cake, but I am wanting to install a double DIN Pioneer DVD player into my double DIN Ram bezel and want it to look "right" i.e. no gaps, protruding, etc. How hard is it to get it correct? I have pretty good audio knowledge in terms of wiring and that sort of thing so I feel pretty confident in diving in. My only other question is my radio wasn't a nav setup from the factory, I am buying a double DIN bezel off eBay and putting this in. Is the wiring behind a regular 6-disc radio the same as behind a factory nav setup? I was going to install one of those parking break by-pass modules so that I could watch DVDs while driving. Thanks and anyone with experience doing this please chime in. Thanks!

best way to do it right imo is to make(have made) a custom dash like I did. No gaps crappy trim needed. perfect fit. Mine was built by weedahoe and I love it.
The pioneer bypass is super simple. Just a grounded switch and your good to go. I have the pioneer avh-p8400bh and love it. No idea about the nav stuff. I assumed that was all in the head unit itself. Nothing to do with the wiring....

Yeah, you'll need a trim kit if you get another stock DD bezel but I'd have weedahoe give it a shot.

i think he has the nave bezel, so he will just have to buy a trim ring. IMO some of them look real good

i would have to respectfully disagree. Had the trim ring in for two minutes before I decided it was not going to cut it. looked horrible. Only kept it in till I got my new bezel from weedahoe. That and he does custom work. Like mine was completely smoothed out and painted to match my truck(PXR). He can paint it anything or wrap it in anything. well worth the extra money for something you have to see every time your in your truck. This is IMO.

Where do you get a trim ring kit? I might want to try that before I spend money on a custom bezel

The double din bezel can one from the dealer. The last one I bought was about $100 and the dash kit for the double din radio should cost around $20 at any local car stereo shop. You will also need a harness do that you don't cut any factory wires. A painted bezel from weedahoe will run you around 250 or 300 and they are incredible. I have to have a weedahoe bezel because my truck is an 04 but if I had an 06 up I would jut buy the factory nav bezel.

With a harness it's color for color. The only wire not in the factory harness is e brake and that can just be grounded. When you ground the e brake you can watch movies going down the road. If your unit is a pioneer, clarion or alpine you cant just ground the wire but a search on yahoo or google will show you how to bypass them.

check with weedahoe for pricing. What was quoted seems very high to me. And you dont have to get it custom painted. Its just an option.
