I'm noticing a lot of guys running bigger than stock and MT off road tires.

Considering the fact that you take a gas mileage hit; how many actually do some off roading in your Ram? I've never wheeled anything with an independent front suspension; I'm curious how it does.

I use to trail ride quite a bit but the world has gone to ATVs on most trails. I've found that trucks and jeeps don't mix too well with ATVs. Most of my wheeling buddys have gone to ATVs but I'm resisting the urge.

ATV here for off-roading. 4x4 in truck is for winter driving and launching the boat or putting it back on the trailer.

I get off the beaten path quite often... not as much as I'd like, but when I can. I'll hit some back roads around here when I need some off road action in a pinch since my land is 4 hours away.

about twice a week i go off road. for my job i drive to construction sites, and the roads are not developed yet. its not like I'm in some deep mud, but with the recent rains down here, it is a bit sloppy. and fun.

Personally I would never off road my Ram on purpose.
I have a 4x4 one because our property is a hill side and you will get stuck with a 2wd when things are slick. The "off roading" in this area consists of narrow, rocky trails better suited for ATV and narrow track vehicles like Jeeps.
Years ago I did most of my wheeling in a '94 Grand Cherokee (ZJ) with 31" ATs and a rear locker. I kept the locker secret because I out wheeled most of the others guys. :naughty:

I go on the beach about 10-15 times per summer minimum,I know it's not really off roading but bigger tires are helpful. I'm certainly not opposed to making my own lane around traffic jam either. My bigger tires protect the rims a bit:)

I don't do serious off roading, but I go off on dirt roads and trails. Our clay in GA is slick as snot when wet and 4wd is a must to get through that

90% of guys with mud tires have them for looks. Some even have them on their lifted 2wd trucks, it's just something people do. No biggie.

These trucks arent terrible off road..not much flex obviously, or lockers, or really anything that screams "off road" except for a 4x4 badge... But in most cases, youll make it.

There arent too many vehicles on the market that arent ifs these days. Gotta make due, especially with a daily driver.

IMO

I dont offroad mine very much.

That's what my atvs/sxs's are for. Wouldn't mind a jeep dedicated for that.

I try and stick to the "don't play in your tow vehicle" mentality. But as austinb said..most do it for looks. Nothin wrong with that.

I go out and play a bit when I can but its not very often..............I enjoy trying to "get a little mud on the tires"

The honest truth of the matter is I have 4wd as I like the ability to go places, do things, and explore areas that 2wd doesn't permit. It's the adventurous spirit that "offroad" types have I guess. You don't need one tons and lockers front and rear to get down every trail or adventure and you don't have to destroy a nice DD 'wheeling either. And of course, lifted looks WAY better than stock ;)

I have had the R/T off road, knowing how to drive is important and you can get in and out of many situations with this knowledge.

Are you running those tires without spacers? Looks real good. :happy107:

I just wanted to try mt tires this time as I've always kind of wanted them but don't really need them. May end up with bfg at's next time or a semi aggressive all terrain as I've never really needed the mts.

I don't at all if I can avoid it for a couple reasons. 1. I don't wanna bang her up and 2. I like to keep my fillings in place. The only thing that may be considered close to offroad is crawling to my fishing spots or going through our fields, but that's not even close to what you true off roaders do lol!

Some mud, snow, things like that. Nothing serious. The ATs I have are just for those purposes. Just some grip on the ground.

Depends on how you define off-road. I take it on gravel roads plenty, and a few FSRs to go mountain biking almost weekly.

used to do it more often but this truck is not the best for it and it is more of a "work truck that I like to keep clean & take care of" than an off road machine. Its hard to off road a limousine anyway :)

most any off road anymore is done while getting work done, not screwing around. to be honest im afraid of taking this thing in the mud ( I hate mud) being it is 7,000LBS unloaded. I do a lot of screwing around in deep snow though , ya know...fields, trails, some woods. that is my thing in the winter. LOVE driving in DEEP snow. haven't had a chance with this new one yet.
