How much aluminum is on our trucks?

I'm pretty sure the hood is aluminum, but what about the doors and tailgate? Do the 2019's have more?

I was always a Ford guy, but just couldn't by an aluminum truck, specifically the bed. I understand weight savings, but the bed needs to be steel whether you have a bedliner or not.

I thought they should have made the inside of the bed steel anyway.

I am still a Ford Bronco fan (I have a '75 and a '93) but gave up on their trucks years ago. RAM is the toughest truck on the market, period.

As far as the aluminum bed on the Ford trucks go, before Hurricane Irma, my boss went to a water supplier and got two pallets of bottled water for our TV station. They put them in his truck with a fork lift, no problem. Got it back to the station and we used a pallet jack and lift dock to get the water out. When we tried jacking the pallets up, the pallet jack wheels punched through the bottom of the bed in a couple of places, bent the bed in others. Tore it up all to hell... We ended up having to unload all of the flats of water by hand. He was pissed, I was amused...

There are no aluminum certified shops where I live, so if it's changing a hood, door or tailgate I'm good with that. When it comes to R&R on aluminum unibody structure and box side panels..........NO WAY. Shops need and do charge double the labor rate of steel just to cover a dedicated set of tools, fasteners, work space and adhesives for aluminum repair.
