How to Add Overhead Console

I just installed a overhead console with Homelink. I had the compass and it was an easy plug and play. Works great with my garage door!!!

Looks like this is the P/N you desire . This is a screenshot of the OP post #1 of this thread .
Remember to make sure you have the dual module for compass & Homelink or you will still only have the compass and homelink won't work . Your harness you have now will work fine , the compass & Homelink utilize the same 3 wires within the harness you already have .
No codes are required for you to do this .

Just the module will work but he will need to cut his original console so the buttons will come through. I have never seen anyone cut them. I have never seen one cut but I am sure it is doable. Or just buy the whole console with the cutout.

I have basic overhead console. Icon next 5.0 with the compass in the radio.
Was looking for the part number(s) I would need to add home link.

I belive the p/n s you need are in my post above .
You'll need the console with the Homelink / garage door opener buttons assy installed in it OR as cptwing alluded to = cut your console and install the garage door buttons .

You will also need the Homelink modual , which doubles as your compass module .

Personally I'd purchase the Homelink colsole assy . Which should come with the console with lights ,dual module for compass & Homelink and the garage door buttons already installed .

Am I missing something or are you not sure what exactly your looking for ?

What is your thoughts Sir on what would be required to achieve adding the Homelink to your truck ?

First off, Thank you ! I appreciate the help.
I may still be confused. For some reason I am having a hard time following this one. I double checked OP first couple of postings and the first 10 pics are not working for me. I am a visual person and this may be a contributing factor.
The one thing I would like to utilize would be garage door buttons. The map lights and the center console LED light is useful to me. I have the latter two but not the door opener buttons.
So if I am following now it appears I would want the 1PQ06BD1AA. Am I correct?

That's what I think . I'm also thinking this is a plug n play for you because you already have the overhead console with a working compass .
I'm not 100% ( I have not done this ) but I believe this is the one you need and it should have the lights , garage door buttons and the correct Module for the compass & Homelink.

What radio do you have ? I've never heard of the icon next 5.0.
Are you sure it's not the factory 5.0 RA2 radio ? Is it factory ?

yes this should be plug and play I have a 13 SLT and I wanted to add the GDO and installed the new console which had the Compass/GDO combo unit and it was a direct plug and play mod

I have a 2014 Express someone said the 56046062AC console might not work? Does anyone know for sure or not? Also I'm guessing a harness needs to be made besides the part numbers I have shown? Thanks

The p/n you have listed above as a console is not the console , that is a p/n for the compass module that attaches to the console .

That P/N isn't the console P/N that is the part # of the dual module for compass & Homelink function . Just the module is worth more than you paid !


Yes this will work in your Express !
You will however need a harness . You can not normally purchase this harness though , because from chrysler it's only available when you purchase a new headliner due to it being glued to the assy during manufacturing.

BUT your in luck , we have a member here " CuylerTech " with the harness connection! www.harness-connection.us
This harness is not avail through their website to my knowledge.
You can however send him a PM through the forum or use the contact us on the harness connection site and request a special order harness PLUG N PLAY with the proper OEM connectors on the ends ! He is very busy so patients is key , I've ordered one similar myself recently among other things & I can vouch for he being great to deal with and he provides quality OEM type harnesses .
Your harness will attach to a Green connector behind the drivers air vent and run up the drivers A pillar to the console .
Depending on the trim level of your truck you may need the dealer to flash in sales code CUN to have the compass function .

What radio and instrument cluster did your truck leave the factory with ?

And What radio & cluster do you have now ?

And do you plan on upgrading the radio & or cluster further in the future ?

I only ask because depending on your answers you may want to have additional codes put in at one time to save $ at the dealer . You can have codes flashed in before or after you install the equipment.

I was told the module may not work with my truck at least the compass part? I contacted The harness connection yesterday waiting on reply for him to make harness. I have s 2014 Ram 1500 Express. Came with the 3" cluster and that RA1 radio. I now have the RA4 radio and 7" cluster. This one is the one that works in 2014 for sure though right? 68105822AB Thanks

It should work fine ( based on the ebay discription )
Since you have the premium cluster & RA4 8.4 radio upgraded already I believe you should have sales codes CV2 , CUN & JFJ flashed all at the same time to save money . This will allow compass to be displayed in the cluster & the radio . I believe the Homelink shows up in the cluster as well .
Remember CuylerTech is a great source for us Ram Forum guys , but he's terribly busy.

Hey you should do a DIY with lots & lots of pictures on the o/H console cutout and install with electrical & required codes for the full function .
This has been done , but the pictures don't come up anymore for some reason ?
Lots of folks seem interested in doing this and it would be nice to have a fresh write up with good instructions!

I was planning on getting them all flashed. Was thinking about getting the RA4 code flashed as well. I'm hoping to bring it to a local shop to get it done because I'm not very experienced in electrical and don't want to mess it up. If they can't do it I'll have my dad help me out and will try to take some pics. Thanks for your help!! So if the harness connection made me a harness all I would have to do is plug wires in, cut hole for console, install bracket, and flash codes? Sorry for so many questions.
