I want to install the aev snorkel kit on my truck and would like to hide the antenna instead of cutting out the hole to relocate it. Is there a way to hide it either in the passenger A pillar or somewhere that’s not worthless? I do use my radio on fm quite a bit. I know there is a connector under the passenger side dash before going through the firewall.

Back in 2013 I installed an interior antenna that stuck to the inside of my ram next to the A-Pillar. It had great reception. I will look to see if I can find the brand but all you did was plug it into the connector behind the glove box and stick it to the window.

Here’s maybe an idea. The 5th gen trucks no longer have a whip antenna. All reception is picked up through the shark fin on the roof.
Could you hook the am fm up there? Of course you’d need a 5th shark fin antenna to replace the current one on the roof. And maybe a longer cable.
But still you would have to leave the antenna base mounted to the fender to cover the hole.

I listen to SiriusXM 99.9% of the time, so I did replace my fender antenna with one of those short flexible ones. Mainly I got tired of having to remove it every time I go through a car wash.

The aev snorkel covers the hole from the antenna. That’s why I want to use a hidden antenna.

Oh well then, that will be great. Now you need to do a little research and find out if you can swap a few parts. Hope it works and let us know how you make out.

Funny you should ask! I did this and made a post about it in my build thread (signature), post 33

Wow. Heck yea. Any noticeable signal loss with that? That looks perfect.

My signal is probably about 70% what it was with the antenna. But I use CarPlay most of the time anyway. I actually ran no antenna for a while, but I was tired of starting the truck and getting blasted with static, so I sought another option.

Now that I’m not at work, here’s what I was talking about. This antenna plugs into the part of the OEM antenna cable behind the glove box. This way, you neither have to pull the radio out, nor even leave the cab to run a new antenna line. I ran mine up the passenger side a pillar and stuffed it just inside the headliner so it’s completely hidden. I also completely removed the factory antenna because of my snorkel, so that gave me a new entry point into the cab for running wires.

I bought it. For 9$ it’s worth a shot.

Antenna came in. So I’m already running a 13” stubby that I did not notice any signal loss vs stock whip antenna. I installed the Amazon antenna and noticed signal loss on non local stations. Ran it directly to the back of the radio to prevent as much loss as possible. I’m giving it a bit just to see how I like it before giving an official review.

No go on the 5th gen antenna. It’s to big and I don’t feel like drilling a hole in my roof.
