How to install Side Steps

So I purchased some side steps for my 2011 Quadcab. Overall I give the installation a 8/10, quality a 7/10, price-to-value a 7/10. FORGIVE THE MESSY DIRT AND GARAGE:i_rolleyes:

Directions
(They say to use 4 brackets per side, but I only found 3 areas and 3 seems enough):


Remove tape in 3 spots per side:



Insert welded bracket:


Install Brackets:




Install (2) bolts per bracket:


Tighten all bolts and then give them a good stepping on and then re-tighten.

Nice. Those look good. I'm liking that style the more I see them as opposed to the ones I have that curve back under the cab.

Nice DIY. I went with 3" chrome nerfs, but this is a great tutorial.

One thing I would add, if you're a shade tree mechanic and just crawl under a stock height truck, you may not have enough room to squeeze out again once both steps are installed. Solution? Back up onto the curb. That'll give you plenty of room to roll out. Oh, and block a front tire while you're under there.

I went with the Ionic Automotive Gladiator steps, I liked the mounting hardware a little better as I had this version on a previous Ram. They provided install videos for the installation. Only took me about 35 minutes for a complete install. got them at runningboardworld.com for 329.

Question did they mount using the body mounts or the rocker panel mounts? I'm having a hard time believing the rocker panel mount is stronger than a frame mount.

^curious as well. They say that the load rating is 400 pounds on these. I hope where it's mounted can hold that weight and not just the bending point of the bars...

Anyone know for certain if the running boards are the same on the 14s? I'm leaning to believe they are but one can't always be certain
