Love it, but noticed an issue.

The bed is not aligned properly with the cab. It sits about 3/4' off center to the right. Has anyone else seen this with their trucks? Can I loosen some bolts under there and nudge it over a bit? I sent an email to the dealer which is 100 miles away. I have not gotten under the truck yet...

Thanks. This looks like a good forum that I will be spending some time on for sure.

Welcome to RamForum.

You can take it to any dealer for the fix. We get a few posts on this from guys who have similar body alignment issues.

Welcome!

Set up a service appointment and time it so your truck is almost empty of fuel. While they are aligning it, explain to your salesman that you had to drive 100 miles for something they should have caught during PDI (Pre-delivery Inspection). Tell them you have a survey coming from FCA RAM since purchasing it and you’ll still give them all high marks across the board if they give you a tank of fuel to make up for it. The salesman will make it happen. If not, talk to the GM at the dealership and let him know you will give the dealership terrible marks on the survey...You’ll get a tank of fuel before they let that happen.

They couldn't get mine straight, but hopefully you'll have more luck. There wasn't enough play to square it up without cutting metal. The guys that did get it straight had to adjust the cab more than the box to make it happen. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the crazy crew. :devilfinger:
I hope they gave you a Carfax and there was no frame damage. Get it to the dealer and or a body shop.

It's a new truck so carfax would be useless. Even if it has been damaged there wouldn't be a record of the repair on there if it happened before it's first registration, but it's most likely from a misaligned jig in the assembly plant like mine.

Welcome to the Forum, Let the dealer realign it, FCA screwed it up at assembly plant do what NorthStar1 said thats your leverage the salesman should buck up.

So, it took 3 weeks to get an appointment at my closest dealer. I picked it up today, and the bed and cab are now aligned nicely, but they had to adjust the cab to match the bed, and now the cab is misaligned with the frame and the front bumper by 3/4" . The big, 3" diameter cab body mounts are askew now. They were straight before. This starts to feel like an issue of structural integrity, not just cosmetics. I am trying to decide if I should just accept it, or take it back and push for perfection.
Oh, and they made a slight dent in the bed side panel. Looks like a hand impression. The service manager agreed to reimburse me for a dent repair.
I love the truck, except for this, and the intermittent exhaust brake function...
What would you do? I hate being without it, and having to drop it 30 miles away, and I don't want to be "that guy" that seems like a trouble maker.

Yep, I would demand perfection, how many coins did you pay....

Also, get familiar with your state's lemon laws and keep track of all service visits and your time without the truck.

There is absolutely no reason you should accept anything less than correct and there is no reason the dealer should do anything other than what is correct.

I think the dealer is probably more than happy to "give" you the fix for the dent, because he's hoping you'll be happy enough to just call it good, rather than force the issue of the cab/bed misalignment which would probably be a much bigger pain in the **** for them....I would wait until the dent is fixed and say, "Looks great! Now lets talk about the other issue..." Good luck and please let us know how it goes. Inquiring minds want to know..... :)

And get your salesman and the GM involved. Like a I posted earlier, the power of the survey you complete that goes to FCA is huge in their eyes...they don’t want a bad survey submitted.

I'm pretty new here too. I haven't made my purchase yet - still trying to decide between the '20 and '21 model. Nonetheless, welcome from another newbie! And good luck getting your new truck fixed up!

After work today, I got under the truck myself with a couple of bottle jacks, 2x4s, a tape measure, and an 18mm socket and was able to push the cab into perfect alignment. The cab, bed, bumper, and mounting points are all within 1/8" of exact measurement. The dealer did a sloppy job for sure. They just moved the misalignment from the rear to the front, AND left a dent on the bed side panel. I was not sure if I was potentially opening a can of worms at the start, but It feels great to have my new truck all dialed in. I went ahead and put the camper on, and am now ready for the mountains and deserts of the West!.

Glad you got it situated. It's frustrating when the dealer can't seem to get it right. Been there before. (and its not just on DC products)
