I have a BDS 6" lift on my truck. I asked the shop to install mevotech control arms at the time of installation along with front 5100s set at 2.1". I told them not to use the preload strut spacer that is included in the kit.

^ I did the same with my Zone 6" lift (5" rear spring) and I used my bilsteins , set @ 2.1 and Zone Arms . Truck was completely leveled, and I did not use the Pre-loaded strut spacer also. I threw that out

Which 6” kit are you wanting to get?
What size tires/wheels?

If you want to keep 35’s get the Zone or BDS 6” kit and have your Bilsteins set at 0.0” or 0.7” and have the installers leave out the front strut preload spacer and get the rear 3” coils. You can keep your UCA’s as is. You can sell your current rear spacer, it won’t be needed.

If you want to get 37’s get the Zone or BDS 6” kit and have your Bilsteins set at 2.1” and have the installers leave out the front strut preload spacer and get the rear 5” coils. You can keep your UCA’s as is. You can sell your current rear spacer, it won’t be needed.

alright that helps. i will stay with 35" tires on this truck.
last question...if i get a 6" zone lift kit, keep my bils set at 0.7" , with a 3" rear coil, PLUS a 1" spacer (to keep a rake) ......this would work?

These lift kit options are like dressing a Barbie Doll... so many options.

You could also do the 5" spring option (with no rear spacer) and set the Billys in front at .7" or 1.4" of lift w/out the front preload spacer. If cost is a factor, this may actually be a cheaper option.

Ok. Im confused on how the Bilstein shock has that much travel to work on a 6” lift? I thought you would need a longer shock
Also thanks for the help. I would like a 6” lift for about $1500 because thats the cheapest ive found.

I also have the zone 6/5 lift. Set my bils at 2.1 and left out the preload spacer. My truck does not sit level with that setup tho, it has a slight rake to it which I wanted since I sometimes tow but still isnt as bad as factory rake. Truck is on 37s

Most 6" lift kits will come with barrels that your strut assembly will sit on - think of it as a 6" spacer that will drop your Bilstein's down to keep it lined up with everything else. You can see it pictured here - it's those round things that looks like an empty thread spool sitting in between the crossmembers.

The lift kits for the front of these trucks simply push all the components down. You don’t gain any suspension travel over stock.
The frame and body are just setting higher over a basically stock suspension.

In the rear, however, you may need longer shocks depending on what comes with your kit, and if you retain a spacer or not.

thanks for the pictures and all the info. making more sense now. I'm glad i can reuse what i bought already. ill have to do some more research on what setting to set the bilstein shocks and which kit to buy. so really if you buy a 6" lift and use the bilstien shocks you are lifting the front 8" ???

On the 6” zone the tophat strut spacer is 5” tall. Add your Bilstein height to that dimension to calculate total lift height.

so I'm better off getting a 6" lift with the 5" rear coil. then i need to figure out which setting to put the bilstiens on so the rear will have a slight rake... i don't think i will put 37s on the truck because of the fuel milage but i want the truck to look "lifted perfect" with 35s.... right now the current set up still looks stock with the 35s
