I need help guys, I have a brand new 2013 dodge Ram 1500 regular cab, black express. I'm cleaning it 2 days out of the week. I don't mind at all, since I like to show of my truck in my town, I'm the only one that has a black express. I think I'm the only one, lol..

Anyway I want to know how, is the best way to keep it shinning after wax. I used meguiars car wash, ultimate liquid wax with a orbital buffer, and spray quick detailer.

Should I used polisher or some type of sealant or other wax to see te deepest dark color, shining (wet reflection)?

I hope I haven't left out any information, any information or techniques are appreciated.

My routine when I had a black truck:

Every 3 months:
Wash (2 bucket system, always 2 buckets)
Caly
Polish
Wax

Every month:
Wash (2 bucket system, always 2 buckets)
Wax

Every Week:
Wash (2 bucket system, always 2 buckets)
Quick wax

Every evening
California Duster (if not dirty)

Every Morning
Quick detailer (if not dirty)

All meguiers products.. NXT gen or Ultimate.

Kept it in show room condition for 2 Years. The Ford (BLASPHEMY) dealer always made me go to car shows and do convoy runs at motor racing events. Sweet discounts on service.

Holy cow... that is a routine! I have had my black 2013 sport for a month now and washed it twice with wash and wax, but man... that's just alot of attention to detail. And in the summer time, it's pretty hot and humid to be doing that much.

That's some dedicatrion though. I admire your willingness to do that. I feel exhausted (along with choronic back pain from the military) every time I wash the truck.

Lol.

What I didn't clarify, is that this was when I lived in Jamaica. Now I'm in Canada and most of that routine went bye bye the first winter. Luckily I had a Tan coloured truck, so it wasn't too painful.

However I just got a Dark Blue, just as hard to keep clean as black, but without the reward of the black. I have no idea how I'm going to stay sane come winter.

Purdy! I love the blue, if I didn't get the black, blue was my next option followed by maroon. But I'm very happy with the black. My big issue is the dust around here since it has hardly rained in the last 2 months, so there is alot of dust in the air, and I get a yellowish tint all over the body from the dead grass and pollin. It's not noticable from a distance, but I can tell when I'm driving.

Let's see what I can accomplish over the next couple of months until we start to get fall and then winter here in Nebraska in terms of cleaning. Weird thing, just 2 hours ago I first learned the 2 bucket method of washing as I have NEVER known the last 17 years I've been washing vehicles. I guess I just did what my dad used to do, 1 bucket 1 sponge, and go to town. Good thing I've only done that twice.

Im **** like you man, get one of these, save the hassle of constantly washing. Sometimes it just a haze of dust...do the california car duster, then use Mothers Showtime or mequires to wipe it down, can do mine in about 10 minutes.

Was really skeptical about these the first time i saw them. But i used one for 2 years and it never put a scratch in my paint, loved it used it almost every night before i went to sleep. The key is NO pressure. Just glide it over the surface.

Yup, but it was worth every minute of it. That truck looked like Glass 99% of the time.

The guy I sold it to called me about a week after and asked me to tell my friends to stop cornering him and telling him that "Kenny doesn't eat in his car".

A shiny one
OP, if you're looking for a maintenance type of product in between washing/waxing, our Detail Spray fits the bill perfectly.

It will enhance and extend the life of your Last Step Product (LSP) as well as give it that "just waxed" look. It's far and away our most popular product...and for good reason. :)

That being said, truly deep, wet black paint will come from polishing. It physically levels out the imperfections in your clear coat and allows the color to reflect directly back into your eyes. That reflection is impeded by a swirled/scratched surface.

Most waxes contain various levels of fillers that will mask the imperfections, but they will reappear after a short time. Polishing will remove them, not just hide them.

Once the surface is polished to your liking, you can then seal/glaze/wax to your liking to not only enhance the shine from polishing, but protect it as well.

Ive had mine for like 7-8 years, glide over, slide back into bag, grab microfiber and quick detailer...boom, pull back into garage :)

Go to ----autopia.org--- This is a worldwide professional detailer site. You can read what products professionals use, why they use them, what works and does not work and they show pictures of their results. They will answer questions you have and then you can make an informed decision on what products you want to try. Most do not sell any products(they do have their favorites however)so they really "don't have a dog in the hunt" so to speak.
