I keep reading here that the stock TC's are basically crap. I also read the RT has a better TC, but I'm not sure if that is the case. I was wondering what would be a strong TC that is drivable for everyday if needed and able to pull from a stop.

I've run both an edge and a circle d converter. Both good converters at wot. The edge is better though at part throttle driving.

The R/T has a higher stall but the construction is no different than the other stockers. I definitely wouldn't call it better.

i have an edge 2800 tc. i love it. like Matt said in another thread, you forget that you have 3.55 gears with the tc. if i were to tow, the 2800 would still be good for that

i have the edge 2800 stall...I went threw matt at moes performance and saved a little bit of money with the sharadon valve body and edge TC package...each tc is made for your truck and your list of mods so if you plan on getting future mods let them know so they can build your TC to what your truck is going to be

Thanks looks like I "gotta go to Moe's" again. I just check out his site and looks like there is a nice combo package for the valve body and converter stage 2.

I think most people on here went with the stage III valve body...its a little more aggressive then the stage II

Just a quick heads up on the VB package...the valve bodies only work up to 2010. Ram changed the VB in 2011-up, and we have not been able to find the cores for these trucks yet. We tried going to the dealership, and they want $600 before having Sharadon modify them. In the end, that would make it almost a $1000 part. If you have a 2011-up and would like a stage 2 or stage 3 VB, your only option at this time is to send yours in to Sharadon to be modified and then shipped back to you.

As for the converter, I have always been an Edge fan. For overall performance gains and drivability, it is very tough to beat. With you adding the blower soon, we would need to set you up at a lower stall speed right now so that you don't have to replace it again after the blower goes in. If we set it up at 2600 now, it will stall in the 2900-3000 range after the blower install. That is going to make for a mean monster off the line.

shortbed sorry for the bad info on the valve body..that sucks they changed it because that TC valve body package is a great deal!

what is the stock TC stall speed? Are the added benefits of an aftermarket TC only under heavy acceleration? Obviously they put power down more efficiently, but what about when not driving hard? Any change in driveability or mpgs?

1-2 mpg increase as to what i read on another thread.

The stock converter should stall around 2100 rpms. While the gains are most noticeable under heavy throttle, it will free up a few hp at all rpms as well. If you stick with a 2600 stall speed, you should see a slight increase in mileage. With a 2800-3000 stall speed, I wouldn't expect any change in mileage...unless you just cant get over the fun factor.
