So...........my truck threw me for a loop today..........need some ideas, thoughts, etc.
2010 Ram 1500 5.7 - headed back from our Easter festivities with family, and I notice that its just.......holding speed like nothing else. Gaining with no foot on the accelerator. I am running a custom tune, so....figure, I'll knock it to the Diablo 93 and see what happens. Pull over, as I'm sitting there in a parking lot - she idles all the way up to 3K...........I shut it off.
Tune to 93. Check idle...........same.
Hearing a hissing noise coming from the front pass side.
Detune the truck........start it.........truck is idling rough, check engine comes on. Lean in bank 1 & 2. Shut it off.........clear codes, fire it back up. Still hearing the noise, but decide to head home (5 miles away). Idling very high (11-1300 at a stop sign). Park it......figure I'll call the dealer in the morning and get it in there - but......any thoughts / ideas?

Try looking at the 2 vaccum hoses that hook right under the tb. See if they are loose or one has popped off.

Or your catch can hoses.

If you haven't already, you may want to throw some blue Loctite on the bolt.

I did when I installed my catch can and I haven't had any issues with loosening up.

I thought the catch can was suppose to protect your engine lol, glad it was an easy fix, it didn't dump oil all over the place did it?

Very useful thread. I always suspected that sucking air below the TB would cause idle problems.

Imagine how much worse it would be if the catch can overflowed and you sucked a slug of that nasty up the ole intake--I shudder at the sinking feeling (or engine stutter) that would induce when it happened rolling down the highway at 65mph.

CLEAN YOUR CATCH CAN---CLEAN IT!

Its not that big of a deal if it over flows. It wont suck ALL of the oil in. There were times I let my catch can in my SRT4 get full and forget to empty it and it would just suck a little bit in and burn it off, it wont hydro lock your engine.
