I've been considering several different generic in-dash units that don't specifically say they are for a 2014 RAM (mine). I am wondering what on an in-dash unit besides being double din is required to be considered for a successful installation?

Since you have the 3.0 radio, you can install any double din radio. You'll have to cut a metal bracket behind the radio but that is standard stuff.

Goto crutchfiled.com and put in your vehicle. It will tell you everything you will need for installation like a double din kit, adpaters, etc.

google S100. A lot of guys have them. I did not go with one, myself , but am now looking them over.

Kenwoods with the small volume knobs are not good, for older guys with large, no longer nimble, fingers.
The volume knob sits too far inside of the dash trim panel.

Luck to which ever way you go.

My dealer asked me about my dashboard and the original wires before I order the unit. I guess many dealers do like that, too. Just ask for sure and the installation will be ok.

Any radio will work even single din units.

just keep in mind you get what you pay for. Pyle is a "pawn shop/flee market" brand. cheap, may or may not work.

IMO spend a few hundred more and get like a entry level pioneer

you will spend almost as much in the wire harness, dash kit as that radio costs

What I bought

I bought the Jenson VX7020 from Crutchfield along with their recommended wiring kit which included the proper faceplate, wiring harness for '13 and up, & antenna modification harness.
