Installing Bedrug on Linex'd Bed

I have the bedliner and the tailgate liner. Both say to sand/rough up the surface on Linex so the 3M tape adheres. For anyone who has done this, does it really hold up or does the 3M tape simply detach over time? If it's going to do that I will forgo the sanding/roughing the surface and simply lay it down flat (and not use the tailgate piece).

I've read that some people have trouble with it sticking and some others have not. Kinda of a mixed bag I think. I think the industrial strength velcro at like home depot or Lowes would stick better.

The Velcro tape that comes with the BedRug is pretty good and I know several here have installed it over their sprayed bed and just made sure it was clean. Hopefully a few that have done it will pop on the thread and fill you in on any prep work they did.

I have the factory sprayed-in liner and the bedrug. I only used the velcro/tape on the tailgate... it's all one piece. The corrugated foam keeps it from sliding side-to-side. I suppose if you put something very heavy on it and tried to slide it, it may move but I haven't had any issues. I don't have the bedrug sides, just the one-piece floor and tailgate. I like being able to take it out without getting in the bed.

Bedrug recommends 3M adhesion promoter for trucks with spray in bedliners. It comes in individual packets (you will need many), or pint containers from ebay or Amazon.

I didnt realize until AFTER I bought a BedRug that they make a "special" installation kit for beds with spray in bedliner.

Not a huge deal, it looks like its mostly the 3M promoter thats any different, I can buy that myself.

Im considering just trying to install it with the included velcro strips. Or maybe looking for heavier "stick" velcro instead of using the promoter. I know BedRug says the promoter wont harm the spray in liner but Im not so sure.

I think the instructions say to sand it down some too where the Velcro will be. My bed mat came with the adhesion promoter wipes but I don’t have a liner so I didn’t use them.

I just installed the new bedrug "Bedtred" full liner. Couldnt really get the velcro to stick to the paint. It prob doesnt help that it was 30* out. But I cleaned with alcohol and dried. I also didn't use the adhesion promoter. I personally dont think its even needed on the bed part. On the tailgate I made sure the velcro stuck and I tucked it under the tailgate cap.

I ended up using Gorilla glue, and it's working great.

Gorilla glue--that's some good ****---and the tape ain't bad either.

The Gorilla glue you guys are referring to....is that the one that requires moisture to activate it? Ive used it once or twice but it was messy (and pretty darn permanent). Not sure Id want that on my bedliner.

No, the clear kind. I know the kind you are referring to, and yeah that is a hot mess to work with!

I was going to recommend 3M adhesion spray, but sounds like you got it figured out

I've had mine installed over spray liner, with the velcro strips that came with it for about 4 years now, no issues. Clean, dry and warm before install though.

I read "gorilla glue" above and immediately thought, "OH ****, can't wait to see how this turns out!!!" didn't know there was a second type of GG...ll
