Need a little advise. Bought a set of round nerf bars for my 2000 Ram 1500 Sport. These mount to the frame mounts for the cab. When I install the new bolts should I use some type of thread locker(Loctite) and which version blue, red?

Thanks,

Scott

I had to remove my nerf bars a few years ago, they came off pretty easy so I don't think there was any. That to say I don't think it's required since mine didn't fall off, but if it makes you feel more confident I don't see it causing problems to use it.

Can't hurt. I would use the blue, incase you need to remove them at some point. My truck had a minor accident last year, guy next to me didn't know how to stay in his own lane. Bent the step brackets and dented the door. Entire step and brackets got replaced. So you may not plan to take them off...

Use blue. If you use red Loctite, you'll have to apply heat to remove the bolts. When I installed the nerf bars on my 2018 frame mounts, the body bolts already had blue Loctite from the factory.
