I've searched these forums and haven't found anything on how to R&R the EVAP emissions leak detection sensor which also can cause engine stall during idle, after filling up your tank, coming to a corner or stop, and possibly a few other scenarios that I may not know of.

Here's a quick "how to" for those who don't feel so mechanically inclined or unsure of their abilities to R&R.

Just an FYI, I've replaced my gas cap with an OE dodge gas cap, cleaned my throttle body, new air filter, new crank position sensor, new OE battery, and it still stalled after filling up.

Vehicle: 2008 DodgeRam Quad Cab Big Horn edition with 5.7L Hemi.
Tools Needed: Small flat head screwdriver.

First things first, disconnect your negative battery cable:

2nd - Locate your EVAP canister which is located on the inside of your gas tank:

3rd - Locate the sensor plug, press in the tab and pull straight out, also remove the rubber tube. Be sure not to tear it out and inspect that it has no tears:

4th - Locate the small tab/clip on the bottom of the emissions detector, lift carefully with a small flathead screwdriver and at the same time turn it clockwise quarter turn and pull straight out, once pulled notice the small 4 tabs, these line up with the canister when you install the new emission detector:

5th - Now, everything in reverse. Install the new emissions leak detector, press inside making sure to line up the tabs to the canister and turn counter-clockwise quarter turn:

Reconnect your sensor plug and rubber hose to the unit:

Here is the OE item number, it was only $45 at the Dodge Dealership. I've seen some out there for $30, but I for one like to use OE products.

I'll keep you all posted on whether or not this relieved the issue after I put some miles on it.
Hope this was helpful.

Have a great weekend.

Nice write up. When I swapped in my 32 gallon tank one that came on used tank was bad. I just put the 26 gallon one on and it fixed it for me.

Thanks for the reply Smiley.. That could also be something to look at if it keeps stalling (as far as a bad tank and/or a bad evap canister) and I've replaced all the sensors and cleaned throttle body.

Filled it up this afternoon and no issues thus far :)
