Good day-
I just bought a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock, 5.7, 4x4. I would like the interior lights to be dark if I am in the truck with the headlights off (and the truck is running). We have a drive-in movie theater and the dash cluster lights are annoying while watching the movie.

I haven't yet bought the Alpha program. I'm waiting on an android device to download it to. I would like to have a head start on the process.

Let me know if anyone has any knowledge they could share concerning this.

@Black-Wolf has written a great summary of the features when using AlfaOBD with the Police lighting feature enabled.

You will also require a Security Gateway bypass harness and an OBD2 interface.

The KaodTech Security Gateway bypass harness is the preferred harness by many because of the build quality, ease of installation, reliability, and the install and forget feature.

Plus, if the SGW module in your '19 is like my '21 and buried behind the radio, a hard pass on disassembling the dash.

The harness connects to the CAN bus blocks accessible behind the panel beneath the steering column.

And, it's made in the USA by a Ram Forum member.

I've had mine installed and coiled up behind the dash hood release since I bought it 2 years ago.

Many users of AlfaOBD use the OBDLink Mx+ Bluetooth interface.

I prefer a hardline solution and use a USB-A interface.

BTW, some of us prefer to use AlfaOBD for windoze. Personally I would never use an Android device to make important changes to my truck's configuration.

I don't believe the rumors that the Android version is any easier to use or more reliable.

And don't forget to copy your present configuration in both the hex and English formats.

The URL for the AlfaOBD thread is in my signature line. Good luck and happy tweaking.

Please update your avatar to include the '19 Classic. TIA

Toggling the dome light will switch Maps view to 'dark mode' which is what I run when using nav at night. Just throwing that out there while on the topic.

my boy has an actual pursuit charger, trust me, that police package is not worth the hassle, just to dim the interior lights
