Hallo

I own a dodge ram 1500 slt 4.7 from 2003 and my interior lights don’t work anymore.

When I open or close the door or use the ‘switchwheel’ they don’t go on or out.

I have checked the circuitbreakers under the hood and they are fine.

The reading lights work well. (pushing them)

dashboard lights and cargolight work with the ‘switchwheel’.

I have 1 error message P0113

I really could use same help.

grt

Po113 Info Def:

What causes a p0113 code?
Because a P0113 code is most frequently caused by either a dysfunctional circuit or a failed IAT sensor, the most common repair is simply replacing the faulty component. You can also try cleaning the IAT sensor tip and replacing the grounds.

I do not think that code has ne thing to do with yer interior lights. I had a chuckle when U said U checked the "circuit breakers" under the hood. Not sure how yer system and electronics go, but I would think a fuse, but not sure. U need someone to troubleshoot for U, IMHO

We are talking about the dome light in the center of the roof correct?

Just to be sure, did you check the bulb itself to see if its burnt out?

Yes that is correct. Center doom light and the 2 reading lights in the front. The reading lights can be switched on by hand, but the don't go on with the door open

Edit: Just remembered you saying that the lights arent turning on with the wheel on the dash either. That would lead me to believe that its the instrument cluster or the wiring to it thats to blame.

Edit 2: Just out of curiosity, do you have the glove box light, and if you do is it currently working when you open the glove box...?

Original:
Have you checked ALL the doors, or is it only the drivers door that it doesn’t come on with...? The computer gets a signal from the door lock/latch assembly that tells it that the door has been opened and to turn on the lights. (Think refrigerator light, but computer controlled) If one of the wires gets pinched and breaks or if the door lock assembly goes bad, the computer wont get the signal to turn on the light when the door is opened.

If it is just the drivers door the lock/latch assembly would be my first guess. If its one of the rear doors, they have known issues with pinching wires inside the little boot between the door and the pillar. If its ALL the doors that don’t work, then it might be an issue with the instrument cluster.

Yes. the glove box light comes on when I open it.
Also, the lights in the instrument cluster can be dimmed with the wheel and the cargolamp will switch on and off.
So the only function of the wheel not working is the interior lights switching on or off

All the doors give a 'door ajar' indication in the instrument cluster, so I assumed the canbus got his signal.

I measured the red yellow wire and it is hot.
I have checked all the wires in the doors and I do not see any disturbances.

Does the instrument cluster contain the computer which arange the interior lights handeling?

Yeah, the instrument cluster is the computer that sends out the signals to the lights, and to me it sounds like the internal logic on that is buggered if its getting the signal for the doors, but not sending out a ‘turn on the lights’ signal.

You wouldnt have had the car in for service recently where they may have flashed the computers for any reason...? I know that you can adjust the length of time that those lights stay on after opening the door with a Starscan, but i dont know, and i doubt, if there is a 0 second option.
