Is $29,980 too much for a 1500 Lonestar regular cab?

I went to the dealer yesterday to check out a truck that they had priced at $26,798 online. Well the end price that they wanted was $29,980.

So I really like this truck and I’m debating on buying it at that price. I got pre-approved at my credit union for $27k but I’m willing to put the extra cash if I have to, what do y’all think of the price.

What is msrp? I would try to stick with the 27 number and if they say no walk out. It's still close to the beginning of the month. In my experience as it gets later in the month they will keep calling with ways to sweeten the deal to try and hit numbers for the month.

I bought a left over 17 ram 1500 Big horn 4x4 quad cab last month for 30k and got 2 years of oil changes thrown in. Msrp was 46.5k

30K seems high.

Just as a point of reference, I paid ~33K (truck only) for my 2017 Big Horn quad cab.

IMHO window sticker price is a useless point of data nowadays. The last few cars I or family members have bought, the STARTING price from the dealer is already below window sticker ("look at the great deal we're giving you!"). its like the inflate the MSRP to make you feel good about getting 1 or 2K off MSRP.

My truck MSRP-ed at almost 45K, so I essentially got almost 30% off.

I paid 36k for my loaded 2wd Rebel. You can certainly do better, since typically regular cabs are harder to sell I'd say.

5.7 Hemi / UAS Radio which comes with Apple Android/Samsung Phone / Backup camera / center console / bedliner/ remote start / LED bed lights ect no sunroof tho haha. Honestly the only cheap regular cabs that I can find are 3.6L V6. Will I be really be getting ripped off if I buy it for $29,000 OTD? @usaf2006 @chrisbh17 @bigred74

OTD has WAY too many variables - what is your tax rate, how much are you putting down, do you have a trade in? If so, is that a net loss or gain?

I assume we’re talking truck only, if this is OTD, then like said, too many variables to know.

Got my modestly optioned CC sport for 30. Msrp was 46.5.

You should be able to go lower

So online it was $26,700, and walk in was $29,900?

Id offer $24 OTD.....and be ready to walk. Bargain off the internet price, not the price with you just walking in.

I cant say if the price is fair since I haven't followed prices lately. But, if you do go with it, get that online price at best. As one other member mentioned, walk out if they reject you. This has worked for me a couple times. They either chase me out the parking lot or I get a call from the sales manager the next day. Good luck!

Yeah, I noticed with RAM especially, the online prices will show every possible reduction/rebate regardless if you qualify for them. They arent LYING, per-se, but it would be tough to get their advertised priced without being in a very specific situation.

You could fight for their advertised price, Im sure they will resist but if you start to walk they might play the game with you (my dealer didnt play, eventually I gave in to their price and all of a sudden that price was no longer available.....)

no down, idk if this makes sense but we have a check from my credit union for $27k and I was gonna put the rest , they don’t know that though since I only offered $27,500 so $500 out of my pocket.

What others are saying. Go in knowing you’re going to walk out unless you get internet price. It worked for me too when I purchased my last RAM. I got a call the next morning. I told them I was about to sign a deal at another dealer. They shaved another grand off the net price just to get me back in to make their numbers. Granted, it was literally the last day of the month during a sales event, so I had that going for me.
