Good Morning all,

I just purchased a 202 ram 1500 with a 5.7 in her she has 66k on the engine. Is it too late to add a catch can, and also what would you all recommend as a sludge remover for the engine? I have used seafoam in my 97 Cherokee for about 6 years now with no issues. Thanks all.

Not too late if you want to add one, and Red Line SL-1 in a few tanks of gas back to back, then an oil change with high quality oil and filter, short interval, then another oil change.

Are you seeing signs of sludge or just assuming there is some?

@Burla anything I missed?

IMO, the best sludge remover is a well functioning pcv, time to replace at 66k, 2nd best is sea foam only through vac lines, third is a PEA treatment like redline si-1 through gas tank comes with the added benefit cleaning in injectors. It is never too late to run a catch can, always a good idea.

Thanks,

I am not seeing any sludge, but I do not know how the previous owner took care of her. Like I said in my first post I have been running seafoam in my Jeep every 3 rd oil change and I have no buildup in my engine when I replaced the valve cover gasket at 230k on her. Do you all run anything in the oil before a change?

Not usually, I just spend a lot on good oil so I don't have to clean it out
