Is this a known issue from reverse?

About once or twice every few months something strange happens. I’ll start my 2003 5.7 and back out my driveway. After I come to the end of reversing and go to put it in drive something happens. As if it wants to die but won’t, begins to run horribly. Almost like a limp mode or similar. It will only recover if you shut the engine off. Once you restart it the problem is gone and you can proceed as usual. I would have to think it has to be some sort of electrical issue or similar. Especially if it remedies after the power cycle. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I have something similar happen to mine every once in a great while. But mine actually goes into limp mode when I shift from reverse into drive and throws a high trans pressure code. I carry my scan tool with and shut off the truck and clear all the codes and it will act normal for months before doing it again. Always after first start of the day and after backing out of the driveway and putting it into drive. Other than that, the trans is fine.

What are the codes, that you are clearing. They may be related to your problem.

I had a S/C'd 2006 Mustang(I loved) that went into limp mode, several times, and after restarted, was okay again.I was under warranty ,so I brought it back, several times to Eastgate Ford in Hamilton Ont. The Dealer where I bought it new.I even worked there for a while, but that isn't the problem. They would take it into Service, park it,call me the next day,and say pick it up.(5 or 6 times)NOTHING wrong. Then a few days later the car would do it again. No Lemon laws in Canada. They were your average,do not care type Dealer. It was a 54thousand car in2006.They told me they pulled the code once, and didn't know what it was(B/S).Interestingly,I got fed up ,sold it back to them,CHEAP,and they fixed right away, and resold at 20grand profit.
All I am saying is follow up on the code you pulled,it may not make sense to you but your computer is telling you something, and going into limp mode for a reason.IMO
