Well, took my headlights out this morning. Was going to take them apart and paint the insides. After much research, I finally decided I had the "skills" to do this. I said, "oh yeah, this is going to be a piece of cake......no problem". Well, I was wrong. I gave up after about ten minutes of prying on the first light. lol. I was scared that if I over heated it in the oven, I'd ruin the lens. So I wussed out and put them back in the truck. I couldn't seem to get the adhesive soft enough to start prying it away. The housing, however, was plenty soft. It gave more than the glue. Sooooo, JJ has a future customer as soon as I get done with the performance mods. I am at the age now to where if things don't come fairly easily for me, then I'd rather write a check for someone better and younger to do it for me. Hahaha.

Oh man, I remember this OH too well. I desperately HATED taking apart my first Gen IV light. The second one was WAY easier. Then again, I had JJ do my second set so...

I think your headlights would look awesome with some gold accents to pick up on the factory 2 tone! White bezels with the reflectors painted gold.

Just make sure you upgrade to HID projectors when you do it, it's totally worth it!

I could only imagine the wife's face and temper if I used her oven to heat my lights up....

I had to show my wife the MDS page for butyl rubber adhesive before she let me use the oven...
MAJOR PITA to do but SO worth it. I'm sealing my 2nd light up this weekend, hope to get them on any day now.

For anyone reading this, it took 16 minutes at 250* to get the adhesive soft. I bent and pried so hard I bent a bunch of the outer edges back (tore some off, too) but a heat gun fixed that right up before putting back together, after removing the stock adhesive from the channel. The aftermarket 'Dum Dum' strip adhesive I found at a bodyshop supply place melts MUCH easier/faster so reassembly is a joke compared to prying them apart. finally, some black RTV sealant finished it all up.

It gets a LOT easier after the 100th set really. LOL 2nd, a little more, but by 100, its a little better. :D:D

This morning my oven met:
2012 F250
2012 4th Gen Quads
07 Ram 1500
05 Ram 1500
2000 Ram 1500

Cracked 'em all before lunch. :D Now the fun part!

I'm actually going to do black inside. I am going to eventually get a white grill and mirrors and will want dark lights. But the white would prob look good. Maybe black with gold accents? I'll think about it.
