Last week I was loading some stuff I bought into the bed at dusk. I couldn't see in my bed with the tonneau cover on so it was time to get some bed lights. Thanks to a thread in here I found a led kit on Amazon for $20. It wasn't that hard. I tied into the towing harness. I did it easy way and just used their switch. I put that under the bed rails. I'm very happy with it.

Nice! I've been thinking of adding bed lights. I'll have to check out the thread you referenced.

Looks great. Could you provide a link? Thanks,

I used this wiring diagram which I found in another thread to splice into the hitch wiring. The pin locations were accurate but the colors were different.
Pin B (ground) was white and pin E (hot) was red.

This is the first Ram i had with the factory installed ones. They are so nice to have. I would have installed a set like you did had they not come from the factory. Since it is an option on these trucks, is the wire harness already there where you guys can tap into it?

For mine, I tapped into my towing wiring harness using these no splice wire taps. I used the switch that came in the kit.

I looked around for some trying to find something that didn’t need to be hardwired in, not that it seemed too terribly hard, but I wouldn’t be using them very often. Saw a lot of “truck bed lights” but I ended up finding some pretty inexpensive battery operated led light strips. 2 ~6’ strips for about $20-25 total. Easy to install and a little remote that I can change colors just for fun lol. I’ll have to see how long they last but

I may do something similar. I have the factory bed lights, but with the switch in the cab I never use them so I want something I can switch on and off from the tailgate area. Alsi want to disable the tailgate lock so I don't have to leave my truck unlocked all the time since I constantly set off the panic alarm when I keep my keys in my pocket.

When installing the factory LED lights in my bed I used this to draw power from the trailer harness: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007EA6WQU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . Worked real well for about a year and a half. Suddenly I kept blowing fuses for one of the trailer taillights and after replacing what I thought was a bad light it still did it. Then I remembered the Curt and on a whim I disconnected it and that solved the problem. Don't know what happened to it but I removed it. Now I'm going to add a secondary fuse block to the battery and run a wire all the way back to power them.

That's funny. Have you tried ringing it out with a meter to find the issue?

I thought about buying one of them to add a blacked out Ram brake light hitch cover like this one.

RED does NOT screw up your night vision!
That's good info. I noticed some new police cars now have all red interior lights.
The switch panel will be upgraded as soon as I get out of this apartment. Bldg a shop in the Spring. This was all done in our living room. Wife was REAL impressed. NOT!1de23dd847973f83ea112a38593a4a23.jpg71e9870c8489c5fa76cba95b0ca05846.jpgc89e0fb2fcfb35603e7b65355307d54b.jpg
