I recently picked up a 97 Ram 2500 w/5.9L, 180 rounds but the truck is SOLID.
Plan to use truck as a DD/ tow/ plow. So far I love the truck!
But it has its issues, so u go to the pros...Right?

Ive been browsing thru the archives here and have found many BEAUTIFUL tips, suggestions, & TSB's - thanks for sharing!!!

This one has an idle/ignition issue that is buggin the heck out of me-
Throws random/multiple misfire codes, and has a surging idle.
Changed plugs, wires, cap & rotor (amazing it ran), and coil.
Still throws code- cleaned T/B and peeked in- Yep she has oil in the plenium-
Replaced the PCV valve--per tip (mine was bad)
Plan to re-reoute plug wires w/done with intake-

Which brings me back to the reason of my post-
I know I have a plenium issue- I will be tackling that in the coming days-
but since Im in there...

Does the Kegger Mod REALLY WORK????-
I have reservations with such a drastic mod and would like some input...
--I have a divided plenium, 2 port, but my T/B says Holley-is this a stock T/B?
--If so cool, if not, will removing the divider create an issue?
--Cutting down the vanes? Is there THAT much restriction?
--And last- is this theory proven? What are the results?

Thanks a bunch in advance:)

I can tell you the plenum gasket has a huge effect on your listed problem I came from down that road a while back. Vacuum leaks from the gasket will create tha issue.

Some this to check too and is forgotten is the crankcase vent on the driver side valve cover. If that filter plugs up it could cause that gasket to rupture.

As for MPG's after you done with the gasket it will improve the MPG's seriously...

check the tbs on the plenum gasket. they tell you how to be sure it is a plenum gasket & not something else.

Holley makes our throttle bodies. So.yes its stock. The legged mod only helps with intake, exhaust and internal mods. That being said it does not hurt anything on a stock motor. So if you plan on SCSI.g engine and performance mods in the future, and you will have the keg off anyways, I say go for it. If your going to stay stock motor wise go ahead and forget about it

Now that you've fixed that, if you haven't already, run a can of sea foam through the cylinders to clean off the carbon buildup that the leak caused. Then change the spark plugs.

FWIW I did the kegger mod on my old '01 5.9. Gave me about 8 hp from what I can recall. And gave me about 300 more rpm worth of power

I also highly suggest the SeaFoam treatment. I do this on every used vehicle I buy and am always astonished at the results.

Remember to run basic copper core plugs, no fancy platinum crap!
