Keyfob issues

so, as of late I have some intermittent issues with my Keyfob. sometimes it just flat out dont want to work. It has a brand new battery and sometimes the truck responds immediately. Other times I have to mash the button repeatedly to get it to unlock, lock or start. Gets quite frustrating.

anyone else had this issue before? both fobs seem to have this intermittent issue. but oddly it seems that when I have issue with one, the 2nd works perfectly.

well i opened them up and they look quite clean inside...

does the second one always work or is it intermittent too? could be antennae damage on either end, if the second fob always worked, it would point to the first fob; if the second fob was also intermittent, it would point to the receiver on the truck. Hard to say unless you were using the fobs at exactly the same distance from exactly the same position.

Where is the reciever antenna on the truck? it is both. because I will switch them. but funny, when i switch, the 2nd one will work great... for a bit.

The module is behind the instrument panel.

One other question, this used to be a fairly common problem with the early GEn 4's, do you have your software flashed with the most recent version?

I have no clue on the software version of the truck. it is Considerably out of warranty so I dont know if they will do a software update on it.

check your vehicle for recalls or TSB's here: Safety Recall Information | MOPAR

If not, check with the service department. an update should be less than $100.

I think you will need to visit the dealer to find out.
