Hey guys, new to the forum. Looking for some guidance before I buy a bunch of stuff.

Looking to put 3” headers on my 5.7, with the high flow cat Y-Pipe. Primarily to fix the exhaust manifold issues.

My question is, is there anything I need between the headers and Y-Pipe? Also are there any other issues I might run into? I’ve seen guys on here talking about melting wires and such.

Also is there anything else I’m missing? Tips and tricks for the install. Literally any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I have kooks on mines and I recall having issues with the dipstick fitting correct. I think never could get top bolt Bracket to line up and had to bend the tube itself

3" headers huh? I'm pretty sure 1 3/4" headers is all you need.

Google wire heat shield. There are literally thousands of products to choose from.

Speaking of wires you're going to need 02 sensor extensions if the Kooks don't come with them.

Wouldn't hurt to wrap them with header wrap.Keeps under hood temps down, also helps to keep heat in the primaries which keeps exhaust gas velocity up,promoting a little better cylinder scavenging

So I did order a tuner with custom tune options. I have a friend that can help with the heat wrap application and the dipstick issue is another thing I have seen, bending it to fit won’t attack my conscious. Also the do come with O2 censor extenders. I appreciate all the feedback guys thank you.

Supposedly the dipstick from a 2500 5.7 fits better ,i can't confirm that though,as i run a custom 31" long Lokar flexible dipstick. Before you bolt the drivers side header up tight,re-install the dipstick ,then tweak/bend the dipstick so you can heave the header into place.
