Leaking Rear Main?

I rebuilt the engine in my truck about a year ago. I had lost the bolts for the rear main so I impatiently went and bought the same sized bolts which couldn't be torqued to spec. I noticed I had a pretty decent leak so I did what I should have done in the first place and bought the right bolts. I had a shop install them and I thought everything was fine. After a few oil changes I noticed I still had oil on the back of the engine and on the trans. I initially thought it was just leftover but there's fresh oil every time. I've been having to r

It sounds like the new rear seal maybe bad .I hope it isn't and you can fix it .

I don't know about a 04 Hemi, but on my 07 4.7 FLEX fuel engine, the rubber elbow the connects the PCV to the intake manifold has rotted. I have replaced this elbow twice, first time it was the cause of my vacuum leak / high idle.
might be worth checking?

It sounds like the new rear seal maybe bad .I hope it isn't and you can fix it .
Can that be? I mean it was a brand new felpro seal and nothing looked wrong with it.

Listen nothing is sure fire thing.They sell a die that you can put in your oil wont hurt a thing .Napa sells it you pour it in your oil and run it for a 100 miles or so you will need a black light to see where its leaking from but it will show where its coming from.I had a brand new Mustang Cobra stayed more in the shop than in my yard.

Listen nothing is sure fire thing.They sell a die that you can put in your oil wont hurt a thing .Napa sells it you pour it in your oil and run it for a 100 miles or so you will need a black light to see where its leaking from but it will show where its coming from.I had a brand new Mustang Cobra stayed more in the shop than in my yard.
I'll look into getting some of that.

Look on youtube you will see what I am talking about.This might help you trace down your leak.

So after a few weeks of getting under the truck and researching online, I have come to conclude that I may have installed the seal in backwards when rebuilding the motor. It was my first motor and everyone I asked wasn't really any help so I just guessed.

Flat side out, always. Easy mistake.

Heck even a skilled mechanic make mistakes.
