I found my left directional and left emergency flasher does not work on my trailer socket on the 2017 Cummins RAM 2500. All the lights on the truck DO work.

There is no power on the yellow wire of a large 7 pin socket. That socket is an aftermarket add-on by Ram for 5th wheels. Both the bumper socket and the extended aftermarket socket yellow wire (left flasher pin) don’t work while the truck’s lights do.

There are no RV fuses involved as the trailer is not plugged in. Where does that yellow wire come from? And if it’s shorted how can I prove that?

Thanks
B

Idk the fuse number, but there is a specific fuse just for that. The owners manual should point you to exactly which one. I want to say I remember it being a 20A (yellow) but don't quote me on that part. Hope it helps.

Yes. You are correct! The is a fuse #53 (yellow 20Amp minifuse) that controls L Trailer Turn Signal

Ya know I dodn’t think to look; surprised Ram fused to that detail.

Thanks!

I have the same issue on my 2015 1500, except it’s the passenger side trailer flasher not working. Any ideas? I checked that fuse and it’s fine..

# 81 20amp green wire.

Under hood box

Showing fuse after relay, relay fed by BCM, i suppose turn on blinker, and while its not blinking test for power on the fuse, if none, relay or no signal from bcm.

My fuse blew cuz I did have a small short in the trailer plug for that respective wire (directional) and associated fuse so besides changing the fuse I did fix the wire in my box installed 5th wheel trailer plug. I don’t know about the fuse box in your year and make.

The Ram dealer’s service did explain that for my 5th wheel setup the box installed trailer plug kit is a pig-tail to the bumper trailer plug. They said that junction does have problems in itself. They weren’t expecting the fuse to be the issue. That junction is right behind the bumber from the bumper plug. They were saying it can be unplugged and clean but the pigtail may need tp be replaced. So if you have a 5th wheel with that box plug kit you could look there. If not maybe the trailer plug has a cap for a possible 5th wheel kit. I guess look and see if that junction exists. Mine was just inside from the bumper near the chassis; directly forward from the bumper trailer plug.

I am having the same issue with the right side trailer light on my 17 1500. I’ll check the fuse box tomorrow, thanks for the info.
