315 is wide on a stock wheel. That tire calls for 8 inch wide rims. Its fine to do it, but don't expect huge life out of your tires.

Hey guys, instead of staring a new thread I figured I'd just ask here. I have a 2011 SLT with RCX level. Just got 285/70/17's put on stock rims but they just seem small and narrow. The next size up they have in this tire is 315/70/17 but they're telling me I'll be rubbing bad and will have to do a bunch of cutting and possibly get spacers to make them fit. Any suggestions/comments/concerns are highly appreciated. I have 30 days to have them change out tires. Thanks.

Joe
