Depends on the provider of the warranty. A lot of dealer provided "lifetime" warranties are like that.

Afaik none of thehe genuine mopar maxcare warranties are like that. I have maxcare lifetime for my 2017 and there is no stipulation about getting inspections.

The Video above is talking about the Factory Lifetime powertrain on the 2009 -2011?

Yes. There is much confusion when people hear "lifetime warranty". Some automatically assume its the powertrain one from years ago, which is what is in that video.

But genuine Mopar MaxCare Lifetime was available up until about 2 years ago.

And some dealers (like mine) have their own "lifetime" warranties on things.

IMHO the only one worth paying for/relying on is the MaxCare from Mopar.

Have a lifetime MaxCare from MOPAR (no longer available) with unlimited mileage or time. It doesn’t require periodic inspection, however I do service only at my dealer as I believe it strengthens any claims I might have in the future.

The warranty has been a good value IMO.

Im "winging it" and doing my own regular maintenance. My dealer has not exactly inspired confidence, plus in the time it takes to drive to them, I can change my own oil and chug a beer.

I asked them about it and they said for something like the engine, the first thing they will do is pop a valve cover and look. They can tell right away if the engine was maintained or not, so if they like what they see they will claim the work under the extended warranty.

i have the maxcare lifetime bumper to bumper and did see the five year inspection requirement thus having it done. The service tech and the service manager had to sign off showing the inspection was done, but i was told the inspection is power train related even though they did complete bumper to bumper, giving me documents showing results,of course it did pass

This is my exact process. I also remember an inspection requirement but my dealer told me it wasn't necessary so it must have been on an older offering. I figure since I'm in for every oil change they'd have a hard time denying a claim because it hadn't been "inspected" (if there were a requirement).

You need to practice changing oil then.
1 beer doesn't cut it. :D

I’ve got a lifetime RoadVantage warranty on the powertrain which is one of the better third party lifetime warranties. This was provided by the dealer for free as a competitive advantage to earn my business. Was it free...probably not but their prices were within a few hundred dollars of regional dealers when I ordered mine.

Yep. Doing your own maintenance doesn’t void the warranty. I just don’t have the technical wherewithal. Not to mention, I buy my oil changes and tire rotation 3/$99 through the dealer.

Totally get it about trusting the dealer for maintenance. I feel like I have a bit of a relationship with them, and have always addressed any concerns I’ve had.

Mine was good for the easy stuff (leaking third brake light, bad heated mirror glass) but all that helpfulness went away when I noticed something potentially expensive (A/C compressor whine)...."normal characteristic". Yeah, OK, right.

Great video, I remember I was visiting one of the various Ram 1500 forums in around 2012-13 time period, I was informed about the every 5 year inspection by Dodge/Chrysler clause, I looked in my owners manual and finally found it tucked away in there, I’ve had my 09 Ram inspected twice, 2024 is the next time, thank God for these forums.

I have the genuine Mopar MaxCare Lifetime that they quit selling back in 2018.
I thought I read somewhere about the inspection but my paperwork says nothing about inspection

It’s usually not in the paperwork. It’s usually buried in some addendum at the dealership or referenced on a page buried on the Mopar site.

That’s correct. No longer a requirement. May have been before. Bought my lifetime in 2018 on my 2015 Big Horn.
