how come some lifts kits say they are 6" but once installed they look considerably lower than others? i know size of wheels and tires can alter the general "full picture" but some kits seem like they just dont go as high...whats up with that

also think it is also based on the weight of the truck. more weight more it sags the shocks? just taking a guess at that.

Wheels account for overall truck lift, but for say for a tire 33" (stock) to a 35" tire would only gain you 1" of actual height. 35" to 37" is 1" as well. So if you see somebody with a 6" lift and 35s and somebody else with a 6" and 37s, that alone won't really jump out at you if the trucks are side by side.

What it really depends on, like Scott said, if the lift is a 6" front and a 3" rear or a 6" front and 5" rear - both lifts are labeled 6" since that is the actual gain in the front.

Might wanna measure your rake stock to see what you need to level it for the full lifted size your looking for. Take measurments of your front and rear fenders to see the difference.
