So after doing a good bit of research on the forums, the mods I have decided on are doing the Airaid tube into the stock airbox and taking off the Hemi hat, the Flex-a-Lite 183 fan kit, a Superchips tuner, a Magnaflow SI/SO muffler in place of the factory trash can, and a Mag-hytec deep tranny pan to keep it cooler. My goal for the truck is to do simple, easily-accessible mods since I am not very good with automotive know-how and these mods seem very straightforward and also easy for me to reach without getting under the truck or taking too much stuff off.

What do you guys think these mods could net me HP/TQ gains wise? At the same time, are there any other similar-type mods (easy to get to/perform or not difficult to execute) that I am leaving out that would be good to go along with these? Any feedback is great, thanks fellas!

You'll be looking at a 25-35hp/tq gain with the mods you listed. 5-10 from the exhaust/intake combo, 10 from the efan, and 15 or so from the tuner. It'll definitely drive and sound better.

What types of mods are you looking for? Go fast mods or look good mods?

Go fast/MPG mods. All of the mods I have put on there will do both power and fuel economy boosts.

Is it truly an easy mod to do the E-fan? I was under the impression that was a difficult thing to do. I'd love to this but haven't basses on thinking this is really involved.

Go fast and MPG's aren't usually found in the same sentence unless you're talking diesel lol. I'd say if you're truly wanting to go fast you'll have to give a few MPG's up.

Would an aftermarket trans cooler be better than a Mag Hytech deep pan?

I have a larger trans cooler on mine and it never hits above 170.

not necessarily true. My mileage has never dropped due to a mod. Only time it did was when I tried running the superchips on the 87 mileage tune. Dropped 4mpg because of that. The whole goal of improving mileage is to make it run as efficiently as possible, performance mods do just that.

You have to remove the clutch fan, mount the efan, wire it up, set the temp on the fan controller. It's an involved mod, on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the hardest) its between a 5 & a 6 if you are not to mechanically inclined.

I noticed some increase when I put an intake on. Helped in the mpg dept. on the highway. Aftermarket muffler made the truck a little more torque-y.

two more easy mods to do are the power wire and the trany boost line. If you have the time and ability to follow direction you can make both of these. but if you are like me and have no free time in your life to make these....you can purchase them for under 50 bucks each.

Power wire: basicly tricks the truck into thinking it is geting cooler air then what it really is thus adjusting the fuel to air ratio in favor of more power.

Tranny line booster: Parts wise does basicly uses the same thing as the power wire and works in a similar fashion. I.E. tricking the computer.

Bothe of these literally take 2 min's to instal. I noticed a big difference with the tranny line. made the shifts much nicer. Below i gave you the links to both places you can purchase these items.

power wire: AirRam - Cold Air Induction System

trany: AirRam - Cold Air Induction System

hope that helps some.

Yeah performance mods help mpg as long as you can keep your foot out of it. For example using random figures, stock vehicle you have to be on the throttle for 8 seconds at 25% to get to 45 but modded say you only have to be on for 5 seconds at 25% throttle to get to 45. So less time on throttle means better mpg
