Looking at 2013 1/2 Laramie with 147,000 Miles. Thoughts?

Need a spare vehicle. Miles driven will be minimal. Looking at a 2013 1/2 Laramie with 147,000 miles. Seems to be in great shape. Dealer wants $19,000. It does have the 8.4 screen like I had on my 2014 Big Horn. Loved my Big Horn. Is that too many miles for a Hemi?

I d be happier on that truck at a lower price some where in the 13 to 15 range.

Kbb private sale is 15.5 for my zip code.

You don't know what you will need to do after the sale at that miles.

And no it's not to many miles for a hemi but there are better deals out there

Condition and maintenance records mean a lot. If it's one owner and has well documented maintenance, it might be worth it.

All of my Mopars have gone well over that. My last Ram was around 264,000 when I traded it. Like many of my vehicles, those could mostly be highway miles. Carfax will tell you a lot and a dealer should be willing to provide that. If you're buying from an individual, pay for the money for the Carfax, it could save you money in the long run.

No. Find something else with less miles. Don't pay more than 3-4k for a vehicle with literally 150k miles. Sure you won't find a 2013 RAM for that price but hopefully you get the idea that it doesn't have to be a RAM.
You can do a lot better with $19k if you wanted a RAM. Keep shopping around.

A vehicle that old with all the toys that trim line has will need repairs at least occasionally. I would not max my budget on an older vehicle like that... You need some funds set aside for repairs. I would buy a newer it lower mileage big horn or express like suggested. Unless you have some funds set aside for repairs.

I have over 240k on mine. I bought it at 170k. Was a single owner truck and was well maintained. I could have bought a newer one, but didn't want to have a vehicle payment. There are a few variables regarding the price. Is it the Laramie or Laramie Longhorn edition? Is this an individual or dealership? In regards to protection plans...there are a few 3rd party companies out there that provide pretty comprehensive plans. You might even be able to still get something thru MOPAR. With MOPAR you can call them directly. Doesn't have to be thru the dealership. It's what I did for my wife's Durango purchased from an independent dealership. My guy at MOPAR was more than happy to work up a MAX CARE plan. Was able to get the same done for my brother an his 2013 purchased back in 2015 from a GM dealership. Feel free to PM me if you want more information. Again...negotiate on that price. Unless there is a darn good reason...like they recently replaced the powertrain...they should come down to a more realistic price. Otherwise...be willing to walk away.

Here's what I found on KBB using 87123 (Albuquerque) as the reference zip and pricing a fully loaded top of the line Laramie Longhorn Limited.

Looks like the low end price is for one in excellent condition is $19.5k.

There is some data missing for us to run a KBB value for you. Cab size, bed length, body and interior condition, options. In the end, doing a quad cab, about 13 would be an average price to pay. My two cents, buying an older truck with higher miles is not a bad thing but the older one goes the lesser trim one should buy. Camper Mike is right on, more things to fix. Spare vehicle, I would look for Tradesman. Still nice, but less mechanical and electrical to go wrong. Can't say for sure but odds are you might be buying someone's headache that they finally parted with. Good luck.

13 was a poor quilty bits in that year.

Had tons of quality issue with ours, fit finish and that 2013 Hemi tick.......

Owned 2015 to 2020 42K to 97K.

Other then that a great truck, just changed the oil, 3 tire changes and all was original.
Air suspension was never a issue, yes it ******* when crazy cold but they all do that................

You made a similar comment in another thread. I'd love for you to show me where you can find a full size truck of any brand with 150k miles on it for $3-$4k anywhere in the US, that is not a salvage title and is driveable as is. Even one with a salvage title would go for more than $3-$4k.

I can see that you are 48. You're not a lot older than me (40). 30 years ago, that statement was true. But this aint 30 years ago. You're not going to find much more than a bare bones beat up honda civic or kia something or other for that kind of price if you want a driveable vehicle in that age and year range.

Just did a quick search out of curiosity. Within 75 miles of Houston (pretty low cost of living generally speaking), truck (did not even specify fullsize or midsize, not even sure if you can), under 150k miles, $4k max price. No year range, no other criteria at all. This is the ONLY vehicle returned in the search from autotrader. trucvk 150k.jpg

Insert "Back in My Day" meme! :D

Yeah, even my old '09 was worth $10K trade-in last I checked, then add dealer markup for what they'd sell it for. Trucks in general seem to keep their value at high mileage better than other vehicles.

Absolutely agree! You'll appreciate a manual seat when the motors or switches go out. Or the power retractable mirrors die in the retracted position.

Yeah, having mirror frozen in would be a pain. I have a KISS mentality on my truck, I like my mechanic but the regular repairs keep him quite happy, I don't need to help him buy a bigger boat.

Computers and electronic related stuff put me in the hole on my last 2 high mileage/aged vehicles.
My 07 Wrangler unlimited Rubicon would have been better off parked on frozen lake ice waiting till spring than the computer repairs I paid for before getting nothing realistic on a trade in.
Electronics repairs bleed you dry.

Quite often it's the lack of knowledge about the system and techs start throwing parts at it since it's your money & not theirs.

Yah I beleive that but until you or me or my local shade tree garage can get into starscan diagnostics we're kinda screwed aren't we. Meanwhile after 5 or 6 thousand dollars parking it on winter ice would have been a better option in thousands of peoples cases.
