Hey all,

Looking at buying a 2015 1500.....just trying to decide on engine.

I will probably keep the truck for 4 years and dont really tow anything. I might start towing my Jeep ....but not regularly.

3.6 V6....I am worried about resale value down the road...how many people will want full size truck with a V6

Hemi - had a Hemi in my Commander and it was a PIG on gas. What is the normal MPG you guys are getting on this truck? I dont want to go by what they have on their website....not real world enough for me. How many miles to tank are you getting??

Diesel - not sure I like the expensive oil changes and dealing with the whole additive thing. Also, if I am only keeping it for 4years....paying the extra for the diesel may not be worth it.

Thoughts?????? Leaning more towards the Sport with the Hemi.

The hemi can get good gas mileage if you drive like a grandma. I have quite the heavy foot and sit in traffic everyday and I still average 14.x

I'm also tuned so no mds, slight lift, tires and all of that. The 8 speed is much more efficient than my six speed so i don't see why you could not get better than that.

I've got a 2015 1500 CC, 5.7, and get between 17- 18.5 locally, haven't had it on the interstate yet, but expect somewhere around 19...

Hemi vs V-6, 5.7 wins.....5.7 vs. diesel, to me the 5.7 wins again, normal cost for changes and no additives, fuel is less expensive as well.

I'll do 80 for 1500 miles nodak to Portland and get 18-19 MPH. If I slowed it down I could get 20-22. I have a real heavy foot into especially since putting on the 14" magnaflow I get 16-18

Drive highway mostly about 90/10. I average hand calculated about 21.9mpg My EVIC says about 22.0-22.4mpg. It's a bit optimistic but pretty close. I own a 2 door Hemi with 3.21s

I drive mostly back roads minimal traffic and cruise around 40-45, i get around 25mpg, when I hit the highway I get around 21 as I normally hit traffic and need to merge. MPG depends on 3 things: What roads you drive, how you drive, and what transmission you have.

I have an 8 spd crew cab, also I think all 8 speeds come with Active Grille Shutters.

I will say this... My 6spd Quad Cab got 21mpg on that same back road, and 18 on the highway.. Same commute.

I would recommend the HEMI with the 8 spd for best all around performance, and fuel economy.

Hope this helps.

one more thing.. maint on the HEMI is not cheap, it takes 7 quarts of oil, and has 16 spark plugs. Luckily they put platinums in 13+'s so the interval is 100k miles which you probably wont hit in 4 years, but figured it was worth mentioning.
