I replaced all four of my speakers in my 08 quad cab with alpine type s's. 6x9 in the front(85 watt RMS, 250 watt peak) and 5.25 in the back(55 watt RMS, 170 watt peak). I still have the factory head unit. I want to add an amp to my system for now to add some kick to the speakers, down the road I plan to replace the head unit and add subs, but for now just an amp. An audio shop here suggested adding a processor to run everything off of my stock head unit but I plan to change the head unit eventually. So what wattage amp will I need for now and how many channel? Can I get one now and add one for my subs when I get them? What else will I need to run the amp with stock head unit and these speakers

The stock head units normally put out around 5 watts RMS. Any 4 channel amp with 15-25 watts RMS PER channel will give you more than enough sound. Here is what I stuck in my truck: AC1800.5 | Planet Audio

It puts out way more than enough power for my standard cab 1500 and runs everything. Although the sub channel (channel 5) is not as powerful as my sub wants. I run a Kicker CompVX 10 inch dual 4 ohm coil subwoofer, with full kicker 2 ohm 6.5" front speakers and 4" rear speakers. and Kicker 1 inch titanium done tweaters. Way too much noise for my small cab to contain.

Pac-Audi has an interface that allows you to add an amp to the stock head unit.
