So been looking around at trucks, need to get a newer truck my sport trac has about 140,000 on it and need something a little newer and less miles. I have had all vehicles first was a 73 chevelle an 87 camaro, 96 monte carlo 02 intrepid, 92 2500, and now my sport trac so had a little bit of everything. Been looking at the dodges cause the pricing is a little better than a ford or chevy. Plus I like the way the dodges look. Now I had a question what is the difference in the hemi and 4.7? I know there is power but which is more reliable and how is the mpg? My truck is getting around 15 I drive between 30-40 miles a day so that isn't horrible but a few miles better would be good.

I ran into this gem on the internet at a local dealership what do you guys think?

Mcallen, TX 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 ST Used Quad Cab Mission, TX Corpus Christi, TX Payne Rio Grande City Ford

Thanks in advance.

Welcome. Both the hemi and 4.7 are good motors. The hemi is the way to go for power and with the mds on the 07 you will get better mpg's

For sure, go for the Hemi. I test drove a 4.7L...it wasn't very exciting. Test drove a Hemi...had to have it.

Buy a hemi.

I agree. Definitely go with the Hemi. I too test drove a 4.7L and then the Hemi 5.7L and it was a no-brainer to me, Hemi all the way!! Way more "get up and go" and still has power to spare even when towing (provided you're not towing a house!). Honestly, I can't ever see myself not having a Hemi. I loooooove mine and I'm sure you will too :)

Nice looking truck by the way... love those white trucks (and of course the orange ones too! ;) ). I say go for it.

Picked up my 2013 today with the 5.7 HEMI and the growl that you can feel and hear while cruising around is awesome!

Good lookin' clean truck. I'd go for the HEMI. The 4.7L is a bit underpowered for the trucks and the mileage is about the same between the two engines. My 2007 Ram with the HEMI has been almost flawless and I have 72K miles on mine.

Def go for the Hemi. MPG is almost identical between the 2 motors with the Hemi having alot more power. That truck looks really good and that's a great price I say go for it!!
