I used the McGaughy's 2" spindles (knuckles) and my cv shafts are almost horizontal. They're not at a bad angle at all. No issues in the 7-8 years I've had them on.

Same here without any issues, but mines 2 wheel drive too though?
Did you have any alignment issues? I have a 04 2WD with a 2/5 lowering kit. It has lowering springs in the front but now im having alot of alignment/ camber issues. Im in between getting adjustable control arms or just going back to stock shocks and springs and putting lowering spindle since it will help with ride too. Would spindles be my best bet?

For a 4wd, you can use stock 2wd spindles for a 1" drop if I remember correctly. Or, you can get the mcgaughys spindles, but need to run an 18" or bigger wheel to clear the lower ball joint bolt.

Been a while since I looked into this for when I had my old 2006 rcsb 4wd, but it hopefully it helps. Feel free to browse my old old post history, from pre July 2017, to find any of my posts about my 2006 that I was looking at lowering.

You can run lowering springs and the spindles to get a 4”. I’ve had it for a few years
