So I'm helping my buddy fix some parts in his steering linkage. He has a 8 inch lift on 38s so some of the parts are wearing out. We replaced the trac bar, the threads were stripped out. Tie rod ends and drag link all seem to be fine. The one think I noticed is the pitman arm is effffed up lol. It seems to be crooked and moves up and down. Not supposed to happen haha. Would that be the cause of his loose steering? He has about 25 degree play either direction on his steering wheel. New trac bar didn't help him at all, trucks just a lot safer now. Any advice would be appreciated

Replace pitman and why not do the idler while your in there, that's what I would do if it was mine. Also something to check, the steering shaft. Make sure everything is tight right there. And if all that is good, I would suspect the gear box

Is it moving at the gear box? If so, it's ***** and needs to be replaced.
