When I bought my '06 Ram it had a pvc intake tube into the stock airbox with a drop-in k&n. I bought a big k&n oval filter and stuck it on the end of the pvc. Now I feel like it has lost low end power? Before I could stand on it at anytime and it would be quick to get going, now it feels like it studders and then goes. Too much air? I disconnected the battery after I put the big filter on to reset the computer. Any ideas? My truck has the hemi btw.

disconnect battery, and drive it, sometimes it takes time for computer to relearn.

You might also think its a drop in power just because its louder now before it moves.

Easy fix here. Put the stock air box back on.

My buddy had the same issue with his FJ Cruiser. With an AEM intake, it was louder and slower. Back to stock, issues solved.

Sure at WOT at 4000 RPM+ it might have had a few more HP, but it wasn't worth it in a DD.

I'm considering buying the aftermarket tube and just throwing the stock box back in... I may be wrong but I just feel like it had better low end before.

How big of tube and how big of filter? Also what w else hance you done to it other than the intake? Also how oiled was the new opened filter and drop in one? Might have to pull the tb and give it and the sensor a good cleaning. Also where is it pointing? And bends our just a straight shot?

I believe the tube is 3" and filter inlet is 3.5". Using the filter that goes with the k&n cai. Ill get pics shortly. Both filters are oiled well. Only other mod is a magnaflow muffler single in dual out with 2 magnaflow tips exited before the passenger rear tire.

I don't think it's over oiled but ill look at it. I threw the stock box with drop in back on and will see how it performs.

I have the same issue and I'm running long tube headers with mine and a cold air intake. And I for sure have more noise and less "go" but Matt at MOE's educated me to get a tuner to adjust the mixture. Right now I'm sure I'm running to lean.

Get a tuner, but do not touch the mixture or spark adjustments unless you are incredibly possitive that you know what you are doing and have a way of logging or checking your adjustments (ie wideband o2) or you can really screw things up. If anything drop in a 180* t-stat and let that richen things up a bit as the headers lean it out and the the tuner will lean it out a bit more and see how it runs.

Totally agree!!! Im for sure not comfortable adjusting fuel/air ratio's.. Ill probably just stick it on the 91 tune and be on my way. Another question along these lines, Does anyone think instead of reverting back to stock air box could just restricting the flow of air through the K&N filter or other after market filters maybe help to bring in so much air and in turn make the mixture more rich? Or am i not thinking about this the correct way? lol

I went back to the stock box and drop in until I can buy a programmer, and I believe it runs better.

I also have my 180 Tstat sitting here needing to be put in but just haven't gotten around to it.... Lazy i know. By the way whats the correct coolant fluid to refill with? Ive heard that you need to b extra careful when replacing fluids to get the MOPAR only? is that right?

Get the 180 in there and it will richen it up., the intake and headers moved your useable powerband higher up in the rpm range. Now you need the mods to get you to where you can use it better
