Its not that bad, the spring change is what makes it a PITA. Once the springs are done your talking an afternoon for any cam swap after that.

I just removed my volant today since was almost 60 out! and I second the OP topic. K&N drop in, and TB seems better then volant and TB. I think it was too much air. Volant said said their power core flows 1100cfm that seems alot! I'm gonna wait till get a tuner before try it again.

I think after I install my 180 tstat I may just block of half of my k&n filter till I can afford my diablo intune.... I know I'm sucking in too much air.

Just making sure, you reset the tricks computer after each mod right so it can relearn the mods right?

I just pull the neg cable most the time and let it sit for an hour or so. Is that a good way? Seems easier than the fuse pull deal.

Yep, just be sure to do it after each mod you do.

When I bought my '06 Ram it had a pvc intake tube into the stock airbox with a drop-in k&n. I bought a big k&n oval filter and stuck it on the end of the pvc. Now I feel like it has lost low end power? Before I could stand on it at anytime and it would be quick to get going, now it feels like it studders and then goes. Too much air? I disconnected the battery after I put the big filter on to reset the computer. Any ideas? My truck has the hemi btw.

This thread got me thinking if with some mods like long tube headers and custom exhaust if having the stock air box would in fact be better than a K&N cold air intake or other style air intake??

I know there is some science behind this but im not sure i know why one would be better than the other..

For making power you need to move more air in and move more air out. Thats why intakes and headers are the normal base mods before ya go deeper.

Mine works great, didn't like it without the quiet box that directly goes to the T.B, so I put it back on and re trimmed the tubing. It flows good and has a monster high flow air filter-same as the high dollar kits out there running $300-500.

Heres the thing, everything has to match and add up correctly. A big air filter and open exhaust will net more hp, however, if you go to big without being able to use that extra flow you shoot yourself in the foot.

Yes but to match the mass amounts of air you would need to be able to add the fuel required to get the proper ratio. In my case with my mods i cant get more fuel without going to a tuner... so I'm gonna try to richin the mixture buy way of 180 Tstat and stock air box to see if i can notice a diff.

You can also add fuel with the "power wire". I have never personally used one but it tricks the AIT sensor into thinking the incoming air is a cooler charge and adds fuel. Some say it works, others dont. I see the thinking behind it.

Airram sells them and Rocket on here used to make them. Hit Rocket up and see if he has one laying around to send you. Like I said I have never personally ran one because I went straight to a custom SCT tune through Sean back in the day, then on the new motor went with DSP CMR tuning with a buddy.

swapped my K&N FIPK out for the stock set up the other day and didn't like it.... just felt more sluggish then the open air set up from K&N.. Could be mental but oh well. Ill just need to get a tuner before to long to really reap the benefits of my truck.

Curious, what size exhaust do you have on it? What if your full exhaust setup like.

Advance timing?

That might help you take advantage of all that air and fuel...
